Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Holy crap. This is a steal for this case. Light, spacious, sturdy, good cooling and it just looks damn cool. I can confirm that the PSU being on the bottom is in fact a PITA. You'd better have some long cables (hopefully sleeved) or your case is a complete mess. Some of mine will barely reach to provide power to my top optical drives. Also does not provide for a hell of alot of room for any cards (PCIe/PCI) at the bottom of your mobo. But I would consider picking up this case right now if for no other reason then it being "a steal" at this price (and I have no use for it at the moment).

Thanks for the heads up on this but alas, I must pass. With my $55 Antec solo delivered yesterday and my $44 Sonata 3 coming on Monday I can't justify any more Antec cases, even at such a great price.

For anyone wanting a good cooling gamer case this is it. Look elsewhere if you want silence though.

The issue I am concerned is whether with its perforated cage design and fans, this cage is going to be dust magnet and hard to keep clean. Any opinions?

Yeah, it's that too, lol. Forgot about that. Especially with the two intakes on the front. You have to wipe it down almost weekly. Fans have 3 speeds though....

This is a great price! And as far as a dust magnet, I'd assume yes more than usual. The PSU on the bottom in particular. My brother's old Dell XPS had the PSU mounted on the bottom and its outer fans were so clogged with dust it was ridiculous (could also be because he was lucky if he vacuumed the carpet more than once per year...).

Cr... Can one use some kind of filter? Perhaps just take a normal home ac filter and cut out a piece that fits snugly on the intakes? What I am afraid is that this will give my wife an excuse to ask me to vacuum ;-)

This is an incredible price for this case, especially with no rebates, no tax for most and free shipping.

Its a great air cooling case and is extremely quiet as long as you keep the fans set to low. Antec revised this case a few times and added some cable management features and a few holes for water cooling in the back. It can get pretty dusty, but you can add some dust screens if you like for a few bucks each. There's few cases that are a better value less than $100 imo, and certainly none less than $60.

I have that case its really nice, yes it does get dust in it i have to clean mine about once a month. But on the other hand i do that with all my computers.

Thinking about this

Just curious.........
Another site comment was that this case has no speaker???
If so, does that mean a silent "no beep" boot?
Do I have to add my own?

Does the big fan on top blow down?

I've had one for over a year for my main rig. No, it has no speaker, you can certainly add your own. The big fan on top does indeed draw air into the case.

And yes, it is a dust magnet, but even running 24/7, it's a once-a-week wipedown.

The big fan blows up and the case is very quiet.

There is no speaker, i don't run one but you can install a stand alone one right off the mobo.

I did not know that boot beeps were from a speaker on the case - I thought they came from whatever speaker you had connected to the system audio output... Oh well, this is my first build, just left the Dell camp. Much to learn.

Since I use only DFI mobo, I would especially miss my "turn off the PSU or unplug it" 2 beep no boot, then single beep boot.

Well, I'll just have to solder the two leads from my JBL 15" woofer to the plus/minus pins on the mobo header.

😛

Antec Solo for $59.99 FS

The Solo is a great quiet, compact case. In the cooling dept the 900 blows it out of the water but if your system does not produce a ton of heat or have hdd's running 24/7 this is a great case.

I picked one up. Was somewhat hesitant as the psu on the bottom and cable reaching I experienced with the 180 version, but this one doesn't have the psu totally isolated from the rest of the case so cable length shouldn't be quite as much of a concern.

I just picked a 2nd one up. I've been using it as my main case for a while now. I bought it originally from Frys for $60 AR back when the Nine Hundred was still fairly new. I've been waiting to pick one of these up for my Dad. It does get dusty but I just spray it with the compressor once a month or once every other month and its fine. I wipe down the front of the case about once a week though.

Great case, with a little modding to hide wires, the airflow in this thing is great.

I currently have mine set up for water cooling, nice and roomy to work in for a mid.

I am starting preparing for my next build. This case is my first part- I was so happy to see this deal in the Newegg email. However, the dust issue does concern me a bit. I have a Cooler Master Centurion (cant remember the model) and it has a mesh front but it also came with a washable filter on each section of the mesh. Can one purchase filters like that for this case? I figure it is possible, but wanted to see what others had to say. This is a hell of a deal!

Wow, an awesome case, i had to order one. I'm using a really old ugly beige case, time for an upgrade! 😀
