I just ordered the minuet, but I'm not sure what color I should make my drives (floppy and cd). I would prefer to stealth them but since I don't have it yet I'm not sure how difficult this would be. The next best thing would be to dye my drives either black or silver. I already have black dye and I'm not sure if silver is available. What do you think?

Here's the case: http://www.antec-inc.com/pro_details_enclosure.php?ProdID=15100

Do silver. Stealth is cool, but how do you stealth a floppy? It would work for the CD drive though.

i could possibly go without the floppy, though this is the only computer on my network (out of 4) that would have a floppy. It would be nice to have at least one computer with a floppy for those rare occasions that it's needed. If I can possibly stealth the cd, then I'll go without the floppy.

exactly.

Looking for a small desktop style mATX case fear of the drives looking like garbage is keeping me away from the minuet/overture line.

front runner for me is the coolermaster 620 which can be got at directron for $88

It's micro ATX, has covers for the drive and accepts a full size ATX power supply, and full hight PCI cards but does not look much bigger than the minuet.

linky

According to the HTPC crowd, if you get a PSU with a 120mm fan (like the fortron offered by directron) and you can get decent cooling.

this coolermaster is actually a bit larger (92%). I also greatly prefer the look of the antec line instead. That piano black of the antec lifesytle cases blows away all other cheap paint jobs and doesn't have the look of cheap plastic on front.

Minuet = 3.8" x 16.8" x 12.75"
620 = 5.5" x 16.6" x 17.5" = 92% larger
Overture = 5.25" x 19" x 17" = 104% larger

This pc is going to be used as a server and not a htpc, so it won't go on my entertainment shelf with my hifi equipment, but rather just needs to site in my home office, look good and be as silent as possible. Expansions cards aren't needed (heck all i need is the network jack). My previous server was a full tower that sat in the closet and generated way too much heat. I sold off all those overpowerful parts and am building this one. I didn't need a 2400+ to run a file/test server so I'm putting an old duron in the new system. It's going to be pretty low powered so noise won't be an issue, as I don't need any crazy cooling solution. It arrives today, so I'll be spending my weekend working on it this (including flexo-petting the cable wires). I'll report back on my luck with stealthing the drive, or whatever route I take (with pics).

Are we talking about the same case?

The ATC-620C-BX1 has an aluminum alloy front panel?

One thing I like is that yes it's bigger but it takes a standard ATX power supply giving you a lot of options. I'm looking at a powersupply with a 120mm slow moving fan for quite cooling with good air flow.

I too like the small size of the minuet, but just can't figure out how to get the drives to look decent on it, because when you ae done most of that face is going to be pure cheap plastic that matches nothing.

Antec (are you listning CSR?) should sell drive bezels to match there cases. I'd pay $10 for some cheap plastic if it looked good.

Bookie, do us all a favor and let us know how your minuet works out. Is it quiet, does it keep your duron cool and so on......

yes we are.

I tried out a black drive from my wife's computer and really liked how it looks (she thought I should go get silver, but I think the black looks quite nice). So I dyed my drives black and put them in. I did get some pictures taken but they are at home right now on the camera. I'll try to remember to get them off the camera tonight and get them posted for you to see.

I did go ahead and put flexo pet on all the wiring (inlcuding mb connections) except the large atx power connector. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for a heatsink before powering up, but I'm really happy with how it looks. I can finally bring this out of the closet and keep from burning up the closet.

well i said I'd post a picture of what this looks like and after a lot of delay, here it is:

It's a large picture, so those with dial-up may not want to view it.
