I'm looking to get the Antec KS282 case with Antec PP303X 300W power supply. Does anyone know if this is a good case? I tried looking for reviews on the case, but doens't seem like any hardware sites has a review on it.. Is a $65 (shipped) a good price on it? I'm looking to use this with the overclocked Duron from the Hot Deals forum. Also does anyone know if the Alpha or the FOP fan will fit in it with the KT7-Raid mobo? Thanks.

Go for the Antec SX-830, it has places for 4 80mm fans, two in the front and two in the back, you also have the PS outflow fan so there is a lot of cooling going on.

I currently have this case with a buy.com Duron 600 in it. It's on the new Abit Raid board and the Alpha fits no problem. Haven't oc'd yet - but very, soon. heh, heh, heh. Hopefully I can get up to 900 I would "settle" for that. At least for a COUPLE days!

Muwhahahahahahhahah!!!!

Great setup though - all the way around! You can't beat Onvia's price on that case, especially with FREE SHIPPING!!! Go for it.

How much is the SX830? I don't need anything fancy.. just something that will fit the Duron and the necessary cooling to get it to at least 900.. obviously 1ghz would be nice. I was considering getting the fk320, but decided not to due to the price... that's why i am wondering about the ks282 case since it's decently priced at onvia with free shipping and no tax. thanks.

I was originally looking at Fong Kai as well, but you're right, the online prices are too high.

I have the Antec KS282 and am running a Duron and I really like it. It has spots for 2 80mm fans(although it doesn't come with any) and it does come with the highly rated PP303X 300W power supply. It is well-built, very roomy inside to work in and has plenty of room for expansion.
I put two case fans in and the cooling is very good.

I have not dealt with an SX830 so I can't comment on it, but the KS282 is an excellent choice, IMHO.

I was in your exact situation! I just upgraded to a Duron system. I was going to get either the Fong Kai 603, or the Enlight 7237. The only thing was that they were more expensive, and they only came with a 250watt P/S. I bought my KS282 from onvia.com. It was $65, which is a good price, and it came with free shipping. It was ground shipping, but I got the case in 2 days.

So far, I like the case. It has a removable 3.5in cage, it has a semi-screwless case, and a 300watt p/s.
What more can you want?

I stumbled onto the 282 case at OnVia. Well made, but I have a problem with the PS/2 port openings in the I/O panel. They are slightly too small for my mouse and keyboard. The plastic sleeves can't fit through the opening so the connector barely makes contact. I trimmed about a 1/4 inch of the plastic off each connector to get better contact. I have 2 other ATX noname cases that don't have this problem. Love all the room inside the case.

Anandfan,

I had to trim my keyboard connector also. What keyboard connector did they use to determine the size? Otherwise I really like this case. It is a good deal for the price.

I've got a question for everyone. I need fans. Someone mentioned 80mm, is this the only size this case will take? I cannot find any info in my manual or at antec-inc.com

PS. I paid $62 shipped from Egghead about 3 months ago. They were by far the cheapest then, they might have a better price now.

darrenford,

The Antec 282 is set up to take one 80mm fan in front-bottom of case. It just snaps in the assembly there. You probably want it to blow cool are from outside the case, into the case.

It also takes an 80mm fan at the rear of the case. Probably best to exhaust the air out of the case there.

The spec sheet lists this:

Click on Spec Sheet after going here

You can see the places for the fans in the drawing on this page Drawing and Picture of 282. The photo on the same page shows two fans installed. The front of the case in this picture is actually facing down. The front fan is in the lower left, and the connector is sticking out. You can see the rear exhaust fan installed in the top of the picture, just to the left of the power supply.

Thanks ride525,

I had looked at the spec sheet but missed the fan size the first time.

I have pretty much decided on getting two Panaflo L1As because I want to keep the noise down as much as I can. Any other suggestions anyone?

My motherboard only has 2 fan connectors (SOYO 7VCA) and 1 is already in use by the CPU fan. I am assuming that doesn't matter.

Where is a good place to order fans?
