Ok, I have looked around here about all the USB issues. I am not a rookie when it comes to hooking these front ports up. I have got them working on plenty of computer builds.

I have two USB 9 pin ports on the board. The board came with a PCI USB port card that hooks into one of the two pin ports. I plugged the PCI card into both pin ports and they both work. So they are active.

Now that I try to install my front panel USB headers to the 2nd unused pin port , I cannot seem to get it to work under any arrangement. I know I have them plugged in correctly from the Antec case to the board. When I plug in a Pin Drive to test it, it gives me a error stating "Unrecgonized Device-click this to read more". So I then plugged the same Pin Drive into the rear USB pci card port and it works just fine , same with all the onboard MB usb ports. I also tried a USB DVD-RW into the front ports with the same error. The BIOS is set for all enabled.

The case comes with the standard layout, 2x 5v, 0 D+/D- , 1 D+/D- ,Ground 1/2 and a third Ground that has two wires going into it. I have tried using that last ground plugged in, not plugged in, plugged in as the main ground and nothing. The tested devices always power on but are unrecognized to windows. I have tried updating the drivers from Device manager with the standard windows USB drivers built into the OS but it doesn't do anything, gives me another error saying cant update driver or something.

I am thinking maybe the wiring of my case is off, I tried running D+1 and D-2 and different Ground and Power set ups and still the same error. What does it sound like to you , I know there are alot of issues from others about Front USB ports but I seem to have trouble shot the issue and still doesn't work. I think maybe it lies in the fact that the devices power on but still are not recgonized to windows, windows just shows "unrecgonized device".

Thanks for the help.

It sounds to me as if either the D-/D+ need reversing, or else the case's 1's and 2's are mixed up. If you have an ohmmeter, you can quickly determine whether the 1D- and 1D+ are both being routed to the same jack or not, answering the question of whether the 1's and 2's are mixed up.

Bigger picture: give Antec a call, and they will undoubtedly ship you a new front port/cable assembly to make it right.

I am having the same issue and their suggested installation procedure does not work with my front USB ports. Why couldn't they just supply a single connector, and an add-on connector for those with the alternate USB connection ports! I emailed Antec but they said just to call them. I call them but then you just have to leave your name and number and hope they call you back when you're around. This is dumb.

Thanks for the input. Well... i fixed it but still sucks. I turned off USB 2.0 support and now it works. I have had it hooked up right from the very first time I tried it. 3 hours later, its just I don't think the front ports support 2.0. Damn, looks like I will have to not even use the front ports and just run a usb wire from the back for my pen drive since I need 2.0 turned on for the DVD burner.

You have to be kidding me!!! No 2.0 support? I got this case and upgraded my Mobo in part because I wanted USB 2.0. I swear the documentation says it supports 2.0. I will find out for sure...

Yep, I started a DVD burn and it wasn't really what I wanted so I turned on 2.0 and tried to run the pen drive and it wouldn't recgonize it, it won't run a sony digital camera or DVD usb burner through the front but will run a Microsoft USB mouse on 2.0. That sucks big time, seems like such a quality case would have 2.0 in the front. Come on Antec, time to pick it up.

What model Antec case is it?

1) Earlier Sonata's had trouble with this.

2) SLK3700AMB's are not USB 2.0 compliant, but SLK3700BQEs are.

3) A P160 that I got had a problem with one of the 2 ports (it did exactly what's happening to you) and Antec sent me a replacement that worked fine.

4) And who knows, there's probably more Antec/USB issues that I've forgotten about or aren't aware of.
