Antec Gamer Nine Hundred ATX Mid Tower

Love the big fan on top but it be a cold day in hell before I shell out $100+ for a case my self. I cant even believe 2 years ago I even shelled out $65 for the Nzxt Nemesis, although it has been an outstanding case and the way the tooless drive compartments work save me a hell of alot of trouble I guess I cant really complain. Would I see much cooling differances with this one vs mine running the stock 1 120MM and 2 aluminum 120MM fans?

BTW this is the one I have in question got it from TD w/o a PSU for the $65
 
Right side panel pivots out with mobo tray attached. Actually shown on picture of Box at Newegg.

Edit: Never mind wrong case, it was actually on a different case.

yeah, usually they list such a feature (as it can be a pretty good selling point) but I couldn't find anything about it

I have the P180. While this does have the same PS positioning, it doesn't have the divider like the P180. Let me tell you that it is a pain in the @ss connecting LED, USB, PSW, and various other wires to the motherboard with that divider in place. Oh, Antec didn't see fit to have a removable mb tray either. I'm not too sure this one has it from the pictures.

Don't get me wrong, I love the P180. It's well constructed, very quiet, and keep things nice and cool. But it's not as easy to work with as other Antec cases.
 
Antec must have decided they needed to put an ugly abomination of a case in their lineup. This was their first attempt. Mission Accomplished!
 
thanks for the links. Hadn't seen that one before, and it doesn't appear to be on Antec's site yet. I like its no-nonsense devotion to full ventilation, and even like its rugged industrial looks too.

just did a quick search on Froogle, and see TechOnWeb has it for $99.13 (plus shipping).
 
I really dont understand the placement of the PSU.

why would they place it on the bottom ?
Last time I checked Heat rises. Wouldn't it make much more sense putting it at the top ?

I also wonder how loud that monstrocity would be.

I believe the idea is to push the air out the back. Before they got smarter with PSU designs (where they have a ~120mm fan on the "bottom" to suck air up and out), almost all powersupplys drew air in and out longways through the supply. With such supplies you could get a nice current going from the front fans right out the back of your case. Of course most all enthusiest PSUs have the bottom 120mm fan and thus you'd want to turn it upsidedown, which wouldn't be so bad. Yes heat does rise but the fan would still overcome that and push air out the back.

I also wonder how loud that monstrocity would be.

you could dissable some of the fans, but the 3 x 120mm and 1 x 200mm fans are huge compared to your 80mm standard, thus they can spin slower and push more air producing less audible noise.
 
Isekii, those large fans seems to be the same as the ones used in the P180. Large fans push more air at a much lower dB and Antec use quality bearings to give near silent operation (at the lowest setting anyway).

wrong, a case with good air flow means the heat can be taken out of the case easier and would mean fans don't have to spin as fast which would mean less noise, not more
 
Looks sweet. I'd love to get my hands on this case, but I think I'd like to be able to control my dust a bit better.... I'm lazy and like being able to Dyson my filters.

Actually, most current designs have an exhaust fan in the top-back location
The CPU has a fan that draws air away from the top-back location
The PSU fan drawing air from the top-back location can potentially starve the CPU fan for air. And vacuum doesn't cool anything.

The second reason is to keep the PSU fan quieter. By keeping it out of the hot CPU air, it prevents a temperature-sensitive PSU fan from spinning up.

The top-back PSU location makes more sense when you have limited/nonexistent ventilation from that area. However, there is such a thing as too much sucking, especially with only a single intake fan.
 
Got mine last night. I have to wait until Monday for the parts that go inside. I got a very good first impression regarding Techonweb. They had very quick processing and shipping for a good price. Now if they would just get a more user friendly web site.
 
I like the case. I have an old Antec SLK case and would love to upgrade, but I've become too lazy to take everything out and put it back in.
 
Got my case from Techonweb earlier this week. Very impressed with their service.

Also it has provision for two "optional" 120 mm fans, for a total of five 120 mm fans. the fan speed can be set at low medium or high (Antec TriCool fans).

It is a steel case, not aluminum.

Still waiting on rest of components to go in case. Have ordered a Thermaltake Silent Water system, which hopefully will fit on back, if not may have to go internal. Not ideal location to put it insu=ide but with all of the fans it probably won't hurt.
