I think this is still the Seasonic unit EA500 - grab them before the EA500D (Delta OEM) are out. :p

Saw this mentioned in another thread. Is this true? And who makes the Earthwatts 650W PSU?

So is this a bad thing or is the Delta a comparable unit? I ordered a 430 just days ago.

We'll have to wait for a review. I'm glad this didn't go over unnoticed though. I used to recommend earthwatt units, right now the price still seems right, but if they aren't as 'reliable' as the 'old' earthwatts made by seasonic, I'd better stop recommending them :p

Delta, while not exactly a huge player in the home consumer/computer enthusiast market, is one of, if not the largest, power supply makers in the server/IT/OEM arenas. (I've seen it mentioned in articles in DigiTimes that Delta accounts for about a 50% market share of the high end server and workstation power supply market.....a major player indeed!)

Delta has been around for a long time....founded in 1971. And again, while not a retail/consumer oriented company, it has received award after award from those it does serve, the OEMs, etc., that Delta does serve, including HP, Fujitsu, Dell, Intel, Microsoft, Siemens, NEC, Eaton, Rockwell, Nortel, Cisco, IBM, Samsung....and a host of others.

So I'd not fret about Antec moving from Seasonic to Delta as their OEM supplier for their Earchwatts power supplies....if anything, they should be made at least as well, if not better. This is, of course, if Antec allows Delta to build to their usual quality and doesn't make too many penny pinching decisions in the power supply componentry choices.

That's at least somewhat positive news, but we'll just have to wait and see what oklahoma wolf or whatever his name is has to say about it. I hope they realize they should review such a product asap, mainstream is where the most products get sold, so there will be plenty of people dieing to know how it performs.

Same here. Can't go wrong for $30 AR, though (deal's been extended until 7/31). I'll bet they have a ton of 'em laying around.

The discussion I read on jonnyguru's made me believe that they are in fact single rails.

Well, JG's site did test a Delta power supply a while ago in the budget power supply roundup test........it was an eMachines OEM pull 300W unit. (These were ps's that were pulled and sent in for testing by his forum regulars in hopes they'd blow up during stress testing by JG and his group.)

What Oklahoma Wolf said about it during testing:

The name Delta sounds familiar, you say. Could it be related to those fan guys, you ask. Have I got enough caffeine to finish this article, I wonder. To those last two questions, the answer is "yes" and "maybe." Delta is, in fact, a well known name in the industrial game; where they enjoy a reputation for solid and well designed power supplies. Customers of theirs include a number of big name PC builders, including Dell. This unit is a custom jobbie that came from an Emachines PC....

Here, we have a 300W unit that actually looks more impressively built than the 650W we just roasted alive. Again we have a group regulated unit, but the parts used appear to be actually capable of the label specs. Those funky looking heatsinks go all the way to the top of the unit, to enable ample cooling from the single 80mm fan in there. Capacitors are a mixed bag of CapXon and Ltec, neither of which I see too many complaints about online.

Honest looking specs like these I find very encouraging. And, unlike the last unit, I finally got to see a UL certification logo for the first time on one of these roundup units.

So, at least at room temperature, this unit is capable of exactly what its label promises: 300 watts. But, some of those capacitors are real unknowns... did it do 300 watts cleanly? Why yes it did. The 12V rail does get a little bouncy jiggly, but stays under 65mV. Voltage regulation is not too bad for a group design, either. Efficiency is ok for a low end unit, but unremarkable. Looks like this unit might be a keeper.

Remember, this is an el cheapo designed unit made for eMachines before eM became part of Gateway, and was built to a .04 price point for their throw-away computers.....the ones that gave eMachines their horrible reputation. So even building to eMachine's extreme penny pinching bar, Delta still managed to get out a power supply that worked to its listed specs.

Now, I doubt Antec, even with Antec's reputation for penny pinching on its lower end power supplies, can manage to get Delta to produce hunks of junk for them.......

Does anyone had any more info on the new Delta produced Earthwatts? I have not seen any reviews on them. I found a locked thread on JG that made them seem not-so-promising as far as components go.. Anyone have anymore input on these?
