I was updating my computer building component price spreadsheet that I keep over on the "Computer Help" forum, and I saw that the EA500 was $40 cheaper than the last time I updated. $50 is pretty cheap for a respectable 500W powersupply. Here is the link for anyone who is interested.

Edit: Now 59.99 with free shipping. (thanks pkilway01)

If I didn't just buy a PC P&C a few months back, I would probably get one myself. I love it when you see a popular component practically half off.

Yup, it pretty much is almost exactly 50% off. Regular price at Newegg (between sales and promotions) is $89.99 plus $9.xx shipping. $49.99 with free shipping is

How hot/loud do these get? It is only using a 80mm fan...

Not sure how hot, but they stay reasonably quiet. These, along with the Antec NeoHE and some Seasonic units are probably among the quietest PSUs to use 80mm fans. Some units with larger fans can be quieter, but these are good for 80mm.

Hot? Mine never got too hot, but I guess that will depend on your case cooling. The PSU shouldn't be the sole source of case cooling.

Nice price, I'd be all over this if I didn't get on the sonota III case with this power supply a couple months back. On a side note my PS went out after 31 days and sent it back to Antec. The one they sent me as a replacement appears to be a refurbed one as the warranty label has been broken. I sent them a email to make them aware of this and to make sure I still retain the full manufacture warranty but so far no reply.

They had problems with their capacitor selection, as well as their cooling which added up to a bunch of failures when they got into PSU's a few years back. They have since fixed both issues, and even use Seasonic as their OEM for this line (which is well known for quality builds).

I'll wait and see how my True430 (yes, it's 5 years old now...) lasts.

I opened it up recently and there was some leakage from secondary caps. Voltages and power seem to be fine... for the moment. If I get any random reboots or lockups/voltage alarms, I guess I'd better get a new PSU.

Why even wait?

You don't need to deal with potential fried parts due to a ripple in voltage...REPLACE PLZKTHXBYE

Had the same problem with my True480. It is the reason I now have a PC P&C PSU, after having a Neopower PSU blowing up on me, and having cap leaks on the Truepower causing random drives to not be recognized.
