Currently, in my setup, ive been having some issues. While i have fixed my issues regarding stability to the most part, there are still some and i believe them to be power supply oriented.

In my previous thread in memory, I falsely diagnosed my stability and Posting issues to memory while in reality, the CPU pins on my mobo were slightly bent. I fixed that.

Now it has come to my attention something else may be wrong.

My rig's specs are in my signature along with a antec Earthwatt 650. my Overclocks to 3.2, 3.3 and 3.6 have largely been unsuccessful interms of long term stability and i think it is because of my PSU. My CPU temps with the new coolermaster hyper 212+ are about 23-25 idle and ~50 load on all cores give or take a few degrees. these temps seem fine

I only have to increase voltage to 1.275 or so for the 3.6 oc as well.

stability however can not be achieved for long periods of time. While playing WOW and l4d2, my computer would randomly blank up and freeze until i hard restarted. furthermore in Speed Fan, my Rails voltage readings seem to be very troubling.

currently im running nothing but 1 frame of google chrome and my voltages read

Vcore1:1.18
Vcore2:1.57
+3.3V: 3.33
+5V: 5.03
+12V: 3.90 (this troubles me)
-12V:-1.17(this also troubles me)
-5V:-8.53V(this also troubles me)
+5V:3.63V(this also troubles me)
Vbat:3.18V

When under load, the 12V's shoot up to like 15V and im not sure whether these readings are broken or what.

im curious as to what is causing this voltage differentials. also what exactly do each of these voltages mean.

If it helps, im also running 5 system fans and the cpu fan alongside what is in my signature.

Thanks for your help.

That's nothing you'll find in a modern computer, so these readings are false.

Readings are broken.
At 15V your computer would be burning.
If you wanna be sure, get a DMM and measure it yourself.

i just tested a friends EA 650 as well. It shows the same thing as mine so yeah im assuming the readings are false at this point as well..

can someone explain why my computer is randomly black screening during gaming? if its not memory and nor cpu and not psu?

could it be my video card?

it seems to run fine so far though

this one?

Not sure on the what the 5770 needs for amps

Output+3.3V@25A,+5V@25A,+12V1@22A,+12V2@22A,
+12V3@25A,-12V@0.5A,+5VSB@2.5A

but I would make sure the 5770 is on its own seperate rail and make it the +12v3@25A because its the highest. It "could" be the PSU is not getting the video card enough juice. I had a similar issue with a 4 rail psu that wasnt giving my x1950xt enough amps and killed the card eventually.

The end user doesn't have a choice what rail they put components on...the manufacturer decides that when they wire it....BTW...all the PCI-E connectors on the EA650 ARE on the 12V3

I have no issues with that PSU and a OC'd PIIx4 and 5770, all the Voltages show correctly in my bios. With 22amps x 12v there is 264 watts available on the PCI rail and the 5770 is well under 150watts.

Just sounds like insufficient voltage to me. I used to use a lower core voltage when overclocking my E6320 and though it doesn't crash right away, it will after a couple hours of gaming, or after I stop playing. Increasing voltage further helped stabilize my overclock.

I agree with fffBM. The Antec EarthWatts 650W is a solid PSU. Unless yours is defective, I don't think that the problem is your PSU.

I have one powering a Q6600 @ 3.6, and another powering my F@H box with four 9600GSO video cards, via a pair of PCI-E power splitters.

Using software to measure PSU voltages is almost always inaccurate. For correct voltages use a digital multimeter.
As far as your OC problems, needs more voltage somewhere... NB maybe?
