I'd vote for myself, aside from being against the Antec rules, but I already have two gazillon computer cases in the attic. It's an addiction. :'(

*pets his P182 SE*

Okay, sign me up for this vote and here's why:

I have a P180b currently. I like it, BUT I hate it too. After a couple upgrades, I realized the P180b has absolutely ZERO cable routing, and it's not a very good case to house an i7-920 and a 5870 while trying to keep them cool. I also want to move to water, and the P180b just isn't conducive to mounting a rad anywhere without severely modding the case, something I don't really want to do - so I haven't gone water (yet).

I nominate myself, since it doesn't say you can't. Vote for me! (Besides, the DF-85 doesn't look terribad...)

I +1 SunnyD

Only because i know he's gonna go though hell unless he gets a better case to water. :p

And it would probably make him get off his butt and water it as well.
Maybe the water might make it unique... :\

Yup, +1 for SunnyD. Seems he could put it to thorough use.

..After all the ' Christ that thing is hideous' comments I'm still not sure whether the Antec Amb. thinks the receiver might change his stance upon experiencing it up front, or whether 'deserves' is indeed sarcastically meant :p

The looks combined with the name ..makes it seem kind of undead. A bit like a zombie sailor.

because I wouldnt put a DF in my office. I love my 180 mini and 180 silver, and would use a P180 again for my next build if I can still get them or a sonata, that is just too extreme for me!

+1 for SunnyD!

Very cool of Antec to give away one of their cases. Doesn't change my opinion of the appearance, but hats off to Antec to standing behind their products and being active in the community.

WOW welcome to AT

Im assuming you will be the offical CS for Antec?

We miss the classic yet beautiful design u guys had in the p180 series.
I still love this case for air builds, as it meets almost every function you would want.

with this case it feels like you guys are following coolermaster, and thats not something a lot of us here like.

I personally think you guys should join the other case makers and make a true water friendly case which could support a 120x3 radiator mounted up top.

Also your current water cases are not acceptable as well as the aluminum radiator used in those cases. Mixing Aluminum and Copper, which most waterblocks are made out of, is the biggest taboo in watercooling you can do today.

I agree with most of what aigo says here, but I actually I wish that Antec had stayed more with the appearance of the SX1040 (Dragon clone) and Titan 550. The Titan was fairly unique in its day because there weren't many E-ATX cases around that weren't straight up server cases. I think this case would have gotten more popular with the introduction of the long dual gpu video cards had it been promoted a little more by Antec. The SX1040 series were just great cases all around - great looks in an era when most cases were still beige, not too expensive, plus they were easy to work with.

My deepest apologies to all concerned here, and especially to SunnyD, but ATHQ has not, at present, cleared this contest to take place officially.

I have asked that they expedite this matter, but this may take some time.

As things stand, I have no formal choice but to temp lock this thread and temp suspend this contest until all the formal "permissions" are signed, sealed and delivered.

Hopefully, this will all be cleared up soon.

I wanted to chime in here because things moved unexpectedly fast on this matter.

Antec graciously offered to give away a chassis to our readers and forum members. Unfortunately, with the size of AnandTech, we can no longer offer giveaways without following strict guidelines and attach the appropriate legal disclaimers. In the old days it used to be me randomly picking a number and calling someone up on the phone to tell them they've won a prize, but after a couple of companies were actually sued for the ways they handled giveaways on the site we have to do things differently. With the help of our lawyers we drafted some basic policies that need to be followed and implemented them late last year.

While Antec's gesture was appreciated, it didn't go through the normal AnandTech channels. If something were to happen and a prize was promised but not delivered or if there were issues with the selection process based, this could create problems.

We approached Antec, a company which we have a wonderful relationship with, and explained our case. Antec quickly acted and got on board with going through the normal channels to give this case away.

We were faced with two options: either delay the giveaway long enough to draft a new set of guidelines that applied to a select-your-own-winner sort of giveaway that was initially being proposed, or simply run it through the normal AnandTech Giveaway process. We opted for the latter.

All readers, including forum members and volunteer moderators are eligible to enter the giveaway (as well as the rest of our 13th anniversary giveaways). While more eyeballs are exposed to the giveaway since it does live on the main site, we're only running it for 48 hours which should limit the number of entries and still give everyone a reasonable chance of winning.

All of this happened much quicker than expected. Unfortunately in the hurry to get the prize listed again no one informed Perknose, our Forum Director, of the decision to list the prize on the main site.

I take full responsibility for this as Perknose had no way of knowing that we were moving forward with the giveaway. He's got a direct line to me, but not to my head unfortunately. I want to sincerely apologize to those users who were excited about the case but had to wait for us to figure that out, as well as to our moderator staff who acted extremely quickly to protect everyone involved but weren't informed by us as soon as the giveaway got the green light. Our moderators are a very large part of the reason we're able to run this Forum and I'm personally sorry for any confusion that has resulted from this matter.

The giveaway link is here: http://www.anandtech.com/show/3813/...-giveaways-continue-antec-df85-gaming-chassis

And keep your eyes on the main site for the rest of our 13th Anniversary Giveaways.

Thanks and take care,
Anand
