Antec Cases - PSU on the bottom

The Antec 900 and Antec 300 cases have the PSU on the bottom.

Can any PSU go there, or do the fans on the PSU need to oriented a specific direction?
The fan on my Corsair 650 psu is on the bottom. Would the psu get enough air if it was mounted in an Antec case? I can't tell if the PSU will fit near the bottom or actually sit on the bottom.

I think you can mount the PSU with the fan facing up or down. I have the Corsair 620w and I can mount it both ways.

If the fan of the PSU is blocked, wouldn't the PSU overheat or something like that?

there is about 1"+ space under the psu.. it can still pull in air but it would be best to mount it fan side up.

Hmmm, here's a thought...in my 300 I've got an X-fi in the bottom PCI slot, about an inch between it and the PSU. So, would it be better...

1. to have the fan facing up, toward the X-fi, as it is now, and exhaust seems a little warm or
2. down, with less overall airflow, but with cooler air?

Can't move the X-fi to the top PCI slot, ends up almost completely covering the GPU intake (8800GTS 640).

Yep I have my psu facing upward cus on the 900, it wouldn't be pulling in any air without some modification.

You're welcome

And 2dt Drifter, there is approx. 1/2 inch of space under my PSU, same goes for the 900 series. Should still be able to ull air but my PSU only has one fan on the back of it. nothing else. Seems to stay really cool either way.

Yea but when the fan is on the bottom trying to pull air from a 1/2" space, the fan will have to spin faster to keep it cool which could result in premature fan wear.

Considering the minimal amount of air a PSU fan pulls these days, about 1" of clearance would be plenty. Back in the day, the PSU fan might be the only one in a system so it had to cool the whole system as well as the PSU. Not that way any more. One tip: I had an Enermax Liberty 500W unit here for a while. It's fan made more noise in the upward facing position. Probably only an issue with sleeve bearing fans, but lots of PSU companies cut corners whenever they can.

If you are getting the Antec Three Hundred case, get it from Amazon.com for $60 and free shipping. Not just free shipping, they ended up shipping same day I ordered it (and by FedEx overnight). No idea why, their free shipping should have waiting almost a week, then a 5 day trip. So - wherever they are shipping it from, it must require FedEx and they get it out fast. I ordered some books with the order, and I am still waiting for that portion to even start being processed in their warehouses.
