That's an awesome price for a great PSU with dual 12v rails and a very quiet fan. I'm currently using one of these refurbs to power my main machine with AMD 4850e@2.8GHz, AMD 780G chipset motherboard, 3 hard drives (one WD Black, one WD Blue, one WD Green), a DVD burner, and a PCI firewire card. I'm using integrated video. The Basiq 350 is powering this system with no problems.

I put one into one of my sff computers a while back. The advantage of this ps over others is that the cables are short and there are fewer of them. This makes it a great choice for SFF cases like Silverstone matx cases. I just ordered another (thanks op) as I'm going to do another build using a Silverstone SG03 and was dreading using my Antec earthwatts model with all it's long cables.

How good is testing and quality control for these refurb Antec psu's?

VirtualLarry, I see from your prodigious posts that you have an encyclopedic knowledge of these kind of things. Please let me tap into some of that. I have never bought a high performance PCI-e video card, just the bargain < $40 kind, although I may someday if insanity strikes, as it has a tendency to do. Do the cards that actually use this extra power connector generally come with an adapter? ISTR that some fancy AGP cards I bought in the past came with an adapter in the box for the oddball auxillary power connector they were starting to require, so it would be logical if PCI-e cards did also.

KF, I'm not VirtualLarry, but I just now checked a few ATI HD4770 PCI-E video cards at NewEgg. Some come with power cable adapters and some don't. For example, the Biostar and XFX HD4770 cards come with adapters that plug onto standard molex hard drive power connectors but the Diamond HD4770 includes no adapter. The Biostar adapter plugs onto one molex connector and the XFX adapter plugs onto two molex connectors.

Yes, a lot of graphics cards include a molex-to-PCI-E power adapter, but I prefer to use PSUs that include that connector directly. Less things to screw up, you know?

I suppose it's fair that this PSU doesn't include one, it's a very entry-level PSU. I was just commenting, because I recently picked up a Vostro 200 on CL, that had a 350W Lite-On PSU inside, and it DID have a 6-pin PCI-E. I was pleasantly suprised. Unfortunately, the fan on that PSU was starting to go, so I just replaced it with a 500W that I had lying around.

OOS online, looks like in-store PU only though the site was going very slow for me and I gave up.

PingSpike, these refurbished PSUs are still a pretty good deal at the normal price of $20 shipped, so you may want to keep checking Fry's site to see when they come back in stock.

I guess the price went up to 20 bones! Now I'm having second thoughts since I still have 400W spare PSU.

It's 550W, and it is of a different breed than the Basiq 350/500w and definitely superior (not to mention modular).

The Basiq 350 isn't available in new condition online for $25, nor is there any Antec 550w available for $29 online (new or refurbished), and some of us don't have a Frys store anywhere close, so those deals aren't available for a lot of people.

Have had great luck with these refurbs.

Last December 21st, bought 5 of the 500w version from Outpost/Frys for $49.95 shipped free.
$10 a piece shipped! Should have bought 20.
