The Antec 900 comes with front panel audio/mic jacks. The connector for this comes with both a 9-in-1 and individual pin connectors for hooking up to the on-board sound. After hooking up the 9-in-1 (it was just easier), the front audio/mic jacks do not work. I'll try the individuals next, I'll just have to shrink my hands a little.

I've installed the Realtek drivers for the onboard sound and the backpanel jacks work great. Working with a Gigabyte GA680SLI-DQ6...any suggestions (other than scrap the front-panel and get a soundcard)?

Thanks,

You should be able to read the 900's manual and your mobo's pinout and see how to hook them up. For a non-HD equipped front panel you hook up a total of 5 wires. for speakers/line out/headphone jack you have left and right signal and ground (same ground wire for all), for mic you have signal in, bias voltage - total of 5 wires for headphone and mic jacks. Putting your correct mobo model number also helps us when looking stuff up that you have on hand... When you look on your mobo manual page for the FP sound header - notice the note just below the pinout tables as you have to go into the BIOS to set the onboard sound header to AC97 rather than HD. Your case manual will say to use 7 pins, but your header has no pins for L and R returns... Hope you didn't damage anything by hooking the plug from the front panel w/o doing your homework.

It doesn't work on Gigabyte boards because of an issue with the (azelia?) sound device. You can plug it in using the large all in one plug, it will do the same as the individual plugs. All you have to to is go into the realtek HD audio manager (should be in your taskbar next to the time), click on the Audio I/O tab and check the box for "disable automatic front jack detection". Your front panel ports will now work, although the back ports will not mute when something is plugged into the front.

Happened to me and other Gigabyte board owners, thats the only fix for now.

Thanks a lot Cheezeit...that was totally it, works now. I did end up changing the connectors though, what a pain...where were you a coupla' hours ago? Just kidding.

To Zepper...thanks for the suggestion, after your post, I picked up the manual and switched the plugs. Fortunately, nothing was damaged.

Thanks again to all,

The latest Antec 900 cases don't come with individual audio connectors anymore. They come with one for regular audio and one for HD audio. This is for case revision 1.1 and later.
