Antec 900 front audio ports not working

Is there any way to test whether the front audio ports on my Antec 900 case are working? I suspect that the problem is with my motherboard, because I can't get a microphone to work with it. I've tried mic tests where you talk and hear it back through the speakers, but I just hear my voice for a second before it gets overwhelmed with really loud feedback. The front audio connectors on the case haven't worked since day 1, so I just want to see if I can verify that it's not a case problem.

Thanks!

Same here, I think there are many people having this issue, neither AC97 audio nor HD audio connectors works.

I gave up on it and use back panel instead.

Did you read your mobo manual's section on the audio connections completely? On some, there are settings in the BIOS to choose which type the port is. On others, you have to jumper some of the header pins to make it work in some configurations. It's getting a lot more complicated these days. And don't forget to check the FAQ on your mobo makers web site for the latest info on the audio setup.

Yup, I tried it, I set it in the bios already, nothing works. But I know the connectors are not faulty, becoz when I plug in headset, realtek driver prompts and shows I have connected a headset through the front panel.

I think I'll try posting over in the MB forum about the microphone issue. That's the real problem I'd like to get solved. It doesn't work from the front or back ports. It's detected, and it's picking up sound, but I don't know what's causing the massive feedback problem.

im still trying to figure out where the short is coming from in my case. the 900 supposively has a known issue with shorts and I get a small shock if i touch the case in a certain way. and my power levels have always read as being low and its due to the short.

I doubt that you have a short. The shock your getting is probably from a charge built up inside you and your grounding yourself threw the case. I have that same problem with the case in the fall and winter. If there was a short causing a charge threw the case you would feel it, not as a shock but a constant voltage. Bairly holding your knuckle to the case would tell you if you have a short or not.

Some what related story:
I use to keep my indoor amplified TV antenna outside strapped to the balcony for better reception. When i would go out to make adjustments for a better signal and just bairly touch the antenna with my knuckles I'd get electrocuted. But it was so fine i couldn't feel it with my finger tips as i was moving the antenna around. I only first noticed it when my arm brushed up against it.
