Antec 550 or powerstream 600?

Hey guys I currently have an Antec true 550 and was going to build a PCI-e rig.

a8n sli deluxe
6800gt and will eventually get another for sli
a64 3200 or higher
2 HDDs
2 optical drives
Will eventually o/c a bit.

My question is, will my 550 do ok or should I get the powerstream 600?

If I keep my 550
Will I need a 24 pin adapter?
Will I need a pci-e adapter?
Will it be enough power?

If I go with the 600
Are the dual 12v rails a good idea or is one better?

thx in advance

Why not try it & if it doesn't work, get the Powerstream.

Probably not for today's SLI boards, some if not all SLI motherboards come with & receive power from a 4-pin molex connector for the additional power and you can just plug the PSU's 20-pin plug into the motherboard's 24-pin connector.

Yes, however the video card may come packaged with them & if not, they're cheap.

IDK, I'd try & see. However nZone/nVidia says around 25A for your setup.

Whatever floats your boat. There's pros and cons to dual rails as well as single rails but if you don't want to get into it, I suppose your safest bet is a single rail PSU, unless you need 850 watts of power... On the other hand, perhaps your looking for specific features from a PSU?

Be sure to take a look at the XClio and the Sparkle FSP550-60SLG PSUs before you buy. The XClio are made by Channel Well (just as most Antec are).

The 550 will handle that easily.

30A on the 12V for the 550.

The older version had less than 30A. Antec's page reflects the specs of the newer version, hence the IDK.

I assumed he had the newer one since they've been out for quite a while now, he should be able to check the side of it and see if it's the older version.

Well, my specs for my next PSU (if I ever need to change my SL350) are:

1. Active PFC
2. Low speed 120mm fan
3. Low restriction exhaust grill
4. 80%+ efficiency
5. ATX 2.0
6. More than 21A on the 12v rail (either single or dual rails combined)

At this point, I belive only Seasonic has 80% efficiency at low, medium and full load, so you might wanna check their products out.

550 should be enough if u dont OC.

dont need a 24 pin adapter.
do need pci-e adapter.

read dual 12v rails here

go 4 the 600 if money is not a concern for u 😉

The 550 is plenty even for overclocking. I am currently using the Antec True-Power 550 with an SLI based system and 2 GEforce 6800Ultras in SLI and all my voltages are rock solid with my video cards running at 425/1100. Antec supplys are really the best. Your Antec supply should have dual 12V rails and should be SLI capable if I am not mistaken? Mine does, but mine might be a newer rev I guess??? I know my system runs fantastic, so you should not have problems.
