Lower wattage units probably don't have enough amps on the 12v rail to supply two 7800gt's, your CPU and other stuff with all the power they need, so I don't recommend using adapters either. Not long ago the cooler master real power pro 650w/750w were going for 50-70$ on several sites, might want to check that out. Like:
