This is a real stupid question, but something I wanted to find out to be sure on... the powersupply antec 430 I have has lots of connectors, there is like an attached set (two ide and one floppy sized connectors) of about 5 or so, is it ok to use all of them in that set at once? like me having 2 ide for graphics and hdd, the smaller one for floppy in that set of connecters, and still have lots of other sets spare? or is it better to keep the odd one free?
Sorry I'm new to this and thought it best to ask if in doubt (didnt find any results when searching).

The reason I ask this is I thought it might be loss of power or something to have so much power going through one set of wires (like the way you see two hdd cables and one for motherboard, thought that too might be a loss then using a seperate one). If that makes sense.

Yeah, you'll be fine. Antec regulates its voltages independently (?) for each line if I remember correctly, actually, that might not be the right wording but read on:

If one of the Antec lines needs more power, it can 'borrow' it from another line to make up for it so you still get all the power you need. It can do this among all the lines and so you shouldn't have to worry about not having enough power. What are you going to be running off of that PSU? A 430W sounds good, but if you ha ve tons of components in that system, it might be necessary.

I'm running a radeon 9700np, wd 80gb hdd, 512mbx2 ddr400 ram, plextor cdrw 48x24x48, floppy.

There are still alot of free connectors with that setup, but I wasn't sure if I should abuse the set of wires like that.

With that kind of a setup, you'll be fine with just about any configuration of wires you use for the most part unless you abuse it and use one line and a done of Y splitters on it, hehe :p

Yeah, you don't need to worry at all. I run a 9800, 128GB 8mb cache, 2x 256MB Corsair XMS PC3200, CDRW, floppy, TV tuner, on a 380W because it came with my case, otherwise I'd be fine with an even 300w.

On the principle of the thing, I usually give the hard drive(s) their own cable.

Since I got alot of spare ones I decided to take the graphics card connector out and give it a seperate cable just to be safe... it should be alright with just floppy and hdd I hope... cause I'd hate to waste a cable just for floppy.

Yeah, I do that too. Actually, I have enough wires left over, everything that needs power has its own line except for floppy and CDRW because it would just clutter it up more than anything else.
