Antec 430+ Watts or SeaSonic 380 Watts

As in my previous post, my specs are:

X800XT PE
Athlon64 3000 (will OC it )
DFI LanParty UT
DVDRW
1 SATA
A few extra fans.

Thats about it. I can have both of these of around $ 75.

If u see my system specs above, which brand would u prefer.

Keep in mind, my room temp hover around 33 deg C so i'll need excellent thermal protection as well.

Seasonic of course. Seasonic's also run highly efficient, so it won't raise the temps of your room that much.

I switched from a TruePower to a Seasonic. I remember I could use the TruePower as a footwarmer cuz it expelled so much heat.

Another vote for Seasonic - they're a good bit more efficient than the Truepowers. My testing indicated, for the same system:
Antec Truepower 430W's consumption was 208.21 Watts
Seasonic 460W Super Silencer was 190.46 Watts
As measured by a Kill-A-Watt meter.

So for the same system, same load, the Seasonic comes out almost 20 watts less than the Truepower. Not bad. 🙂
(And yes, the power factor has been taken into account.)

As for the room temperature, I don't think the power supply will make much difference there. The CPU, motherboard, videocard, and hard drive will also contribute considerably to the temperature of the room. Only ways to reduce the heat output of the system are to:
1) Turn it off.
2) Put it in Standby mode
3) Buy more efficient components, which also tend to be slower - things like a miniITX motherboard
4) Use fewer components - one hard drive instead of two.
5) Seal the computer from the outside environment by eliminating ventilation fans. This of course will cause the system to fry itself, eventually reducing its power consumption to zero, which will produce no heat at all.

And a room temp of 33C???? 91.4F??? Where are you, southern Florida, with no A/C?

Thanks, so ill drop the extra amps on the antec and buy a seasonic. Im buying the S12 version rated 380 Watts selling for $ 75.
