Antec 300W with P4 motherboard?

I wanted to test my new combo while I wait for my new case to arrive. Is it possible to run a P4 motherboard without using the "special" motherboad power connector (the 4 pin square thing)? I have an antec 300W in a 1030B case that I'd like to use to test everything.

Depends on the motherboard. Some won't work at all without the 4-pin connector, some will but may have stability problems, some work perfectly without it.

Would I do any damage or would it just not work? The mobo is an EPOX 4BDA2+.
