Thanks. Just wanted to know I wasn't blazing new territory with my friend's new computer.

crt1530, there is some controversy on whether or not an Antec PP303X can handle a 1.4GHz Athlon system (look at Cases and Cooling forum). I tried getting info on why AMD hasn't approved it past 900MHz operation, but no one has clear answers (including an Antec representative that browses that forum). You might want to get the PP303XP, a tweaked version of the above with a higher combined 3.3 + 5.0 voltage line rating. Or, go with something on AMD's approved list.

The PP-303XP is the PSU that came in the SX830 case I bought for him. The 3.3 and 5V combined voltage is 180W which is 35-40W higher than than the PP-303X. This should be fine. 180W combined is higher than many of the "recommended" PSU's.

It will work but better power supplies are out there.
My 1 gig would onmy do 1.350 with the Antec.
I switched to a PC Power Turbo Cool 300w and now can do 1.450 easily
The difference in constant voltage across the terminals is evident in my system.
I will only buy PC Power Turbo Cool supplies from now on= Quality
