I've been cruising these boards looking for a good solution for keeping my case clean (antec 300). I found this thread Text and went to home depot and got some Filtrete Filters by 3M. The 300 already has a mesh screen in the front but the side only has a grill incapable of preventing dust from entering.

Couple of Questions:

1: Will the Electrostatically charged fibers in the filtrete mess with my system?
2: What would be the best setup for exhaust and intake in my machine? I was thinking 2 120mm intakes in the front, 120mm intake on the side and keeping the two original fans on the top and the rear in exhaust. The psu would be exhaust also making a total of 3 intake and 3 exhaust.
3: Will i need an extremely strong fan to pull air through the filtrete? Its a little thicker than the mesh on the front of the case. noise is not a factor with me as long as the machine is clean and cool.
4: I should only need to put the filters on the intake ports correct?

I'm learning all sorts of new stuff reading through all these boards but I would also like personal experience comments. Thanks!

I really like the 300 case, it's well ventilated.. I use the CPU fan, pointing up and into the blow hole and the blow hole fan on low (or completely off). I've removed all the other fans, just so air can move around better. The GPU fan and PSU fan are also working, but usually at slow speeds.

I'm thinking of getting the Antec 300 to have a positive-pressure case. I have a cat, so my current case gets hair and dust/dander in from all sorts of places cause it isn't positive pressure.

To set up positive pressure I figure I'll put two intake fans on the front blowing across my hard drives, and put a filter on them like you've mentioned. Then depending if I get an exhausted video card or not, I would maybe cover the side vent, and make sure I have more fans blowing in than blowing out.

So maybe, 2 intake on front; single exhaust on back; cover the side panel vent; leave the top vent uncovered but without a fan; and filter the intake on the front.

EDIT: forgot to mention, the filters having an electrostatic charge shouldn't affect your system at all. The case provides grounding, so unless your wall wiring doesn't provide good grounding you should see zero issues from this in any way.

Thanks! As of right now I have the filters on the front and the side grills. No intake fans yet but 4 exhaust.. I can put my hand up to the front of the case and feel the air being pulled into the filter. Ill be getting the Yate loon 120's next week sometime.

Charged fibers are not a problem for a pc, some servers even use them.
For filters I use the black cut to fit filters that are designed for AC.
They stop the dirt but will not block airflow.
Keep the filter a 1/2 inch or so from the fans intake, if it is directly attached to the fan it will cut the airflow .
