Antec 1200 vs CM HAF932

I'm kind of in the market for a new case

I want a full tower case for more room to work in, i will be water cooling and will need at least 3-4x 5.25" bays, at least 3-4x internal 3.5" bays, and room for water cooling.

what are some pros and cons of each?

Pros of Antec 1200:
-Better cooling (5x120mm fans + 1x200mm fan)
-Better looking (subjective, but i am the ultimate decision maker here.. lol)
...

Cons of Antec 1200:
-steel, heavy, eh
-childish, too many LEDs
-no slide out MB tray
-no cutout on mb tray for quick removal of CPU backplate
...

Pros of CM HAF 932:
-Aluminum, lighter
-slide out MB tray
-cutout on MB tray for CPU backplate
-less LEDs
...

Cons of CM HAF 932:
-uglier, imo
-weird usage of fans (3x230mm + 1x140mm) but also works with 120mm fans but they're not included.
-bland interior, bland color interior

give me your ideas about these cases, or provide some insight on another case that you guys like!

+ where is the cheapest place you guys see for either of these cases?

1200, although you say it's childish, actually has a very clean look. Also, not having the mobo tray isn't much of a con for the 1200 or a pro for the CM, because full towers like the 1200 are so big and roomy to work in you don't even need a mobo tray.

You can mount a 120x3 radiator internally in the HAF 932 (edit) without modification.

What you do is remove the top 200mm fan (and you can move it to the front, to have no LEDs at all, if that's what you want), and then there are 3x120 fan mounts on the top that are spaced for Swiftech rads (other rads too, just not Thermochill & some other brand).

EXACTLY MY PLAN!, now to get rid of my Lian Li V1000B, anyone want to buy for $150 + actual shipping?

This thread was done about a month - 2 months ago.. Literally, it was a 1200 vs HAF thread, and I got pretty vocal there about how the HAF is on a complete different level than the 1200, and it wasn't really about making a choice, there only was one to make.

Get the HAF932, forget about the 1200, don't waste any more of your time deciding.

But btw you said the HAF is aluminum and lightweight above, its definitely steel, and its definitely not light. If your going to a lan its not a big deal to carry to the car etc, and it does have wheels you can use if you use your pc on the floor. it's not like a lian li where the sidepanels go airborne if you mount a panaflo to it though.

got the HAF from ncixus.com. the order was placed on 3/16 at 9:30am PST (12:30 EST) lets see how long it takes them to get it to me. i paid $140

last time i ordered from them it took them a month to get me my item.

TBH, I think you'll be happy with the HAF. From what I've heard it is a wonderful case. I have the 1200, but I only bought it because it was cheaper than the HAF at the time, and had free shipping. I don't regret it at all, as I love my 1200, but the HAF looks good as well.

yea how much did u get your 1200 for?

i got a nice deal for $139 shipped + 3 x low speed yates for $3.99 each also w/ free shipping

Nope. It doesn't. It has a sliding power supply mount though for those really long 1.2kW PSUs. 😛 And one thing that's annoying is they use hex or torx (can't remember. I replace them) on the fans.

CM didn't use philips on fan screws? wtf???????????

and btw, do you have a HAF too?

and yea, i dont think i'll be needing the sliding tray for the psu at all since my PCPC610 isn't much longer than the standard ATX psu

I got mine awhile back for $150 shipped. I hadn't ever seen the HAF on sale, so I got tired of waiting for it. I would have done it with free shipping had it been offered, as it retailed $160 at the time.

Yeah. I got the HAF Louis. I'll show you what I've done once I figure out some stuff so it may not be until next week until I have time to upload pictures in an orderly fashion. I have a Thermochill so I had to do some modifications. But overall, it's pretty stock.

nice, can u comment on the quality of it versus other cases you've worked on? how does it compare to LL? i hope its not too far below my V1000

I've never used Lian-Li. Only Antec and Cooler Master. Less on the case, more on the components. It's much like the Antec 900. Plastic front and top-front. Little rubber mat with a fill-port underneath. Mesh front bay covers. They leave a spot open when you take off the covers and it can annoy some people. CM is looking into it. HDD mounts are easy. Fairly quiet. Built quality is decent. Similar to my 900. High airflow and no sound isolation. Casters are a nice touch. Raises it off the ground. Standard feet are good. Won't come off like some feet do. Power and HDD LEDs are EXTREMELY BRIGHT. Overall, it's not too shabby. Not classy, but it gets the job done.

Love my HAF. Removable motherboard tray isn't an issue as the case is so huge mounting the MB is a breeze.

I waivered between these cases, then went with a Mountain Mods Pinnacle case.

I like that I end up with exactly what I want, no frills. My wife says I'm almost Amish.

We discusses mobo tray cutouts. They get asked this all the time, but haven't bit. There's no standard location for the cutout. With a removable tray, and only two hookups (power and reset) to the case itself, swapping coolers isn't that hard. We agreed, "anything is easy compared to playing the piano".

^^ dude i have no idea waht you just said in that last part.

and the pinnacle is $100+ more than the CM and Antec

not really a comparision... compare it with a LL or Silverstone tower and it won't look like such a good buy unless you're WCing

Apparently at some point I decided to switch memory cards in the past 2 months so I have no clue where the card with the pictures is... now it's time to bust out the computer and take a few new ones. (I did some pretty bad management cuz I got lazy and it's a %&*#( to get the covers on an off. I can't WAIT until I add MORE watercooling to the HAF... 😛

There you go! A bit of a mess. Still need to add another radiator, replace the pump, and get the second GTX260 on water, but otherwise there's how it fits into the HAF. Notice, however, that I cut off the top PSU mount so I could fit the barbs of the PA120.3 up there. I cut two holes in one of the front mess covers and those are 2 temperature monitors (air intake and formerly water temperature but I need to find a new placement for the probe)

Awesome system. I'd grab a can of air and spray out the front panel though, and the rad. I have to do so about once a month on my HAF, it is like an air filter.

Yeah. High res pics and you can see my dust. I've been extremely ill for over a month so I haven't really felt like cleaning out my system. Maybe eventually.

thanks for the pics dude! gave me lots of ideas on how to set up.

the barb coming down from the rad is awfully close to that 140mm fan lol i'm thinking of not having the 140 there at all, with the side 230mm cooling everything else besides CPU

as of now i also have the barbs of my rad coming down from the drive bay front of the case, so the turn from the rad -> CPU isn't so tight.

i'm trying to mount my MCP355 + XSPC restop in that same area with the rectangular vent holes, but i'm not sure how. Thinking of using one or two PCI expansion slot covers to mount it there.

anyway, its been over 14 days since gigabyte has RECEIVED my motherboard and i still do not have a tracking number for its return back to me. its been a total of 20 days of me w/o MB. =(
