Antec 1200 or the HAF 932

I'm planning to buy a full tower case and have finally zeroed in on the Antec 1200 and Cooler Master HAF 932. Now for the life of me I can't decide which one to go for? I liked the rugged looks of the HAF but off-late the Antec 1200's looks have started to grow on me. It just looks so much sleeker and more classy I guess.

I have a question though... is the top 200mm fan on the Antec 1200 modular and can I change it with 120 mm fans?

Also, I will NOT go in for a water-cooling set-up now, nor in the future so which case should I buy. Please advice with reasons.

TIA 🙂

Tough call. The 1200 is a (literally) solid case but cable management will be a nightmare. HAF 932 is lighter in comparison but it may be easier to deal with.

I'm kind of an ass when it comes to cable management so I prefer HAF 932, but not by a lot. HAF 932's thin side-panel and front bezels are prone to make vibration noise, so you might want to pay special attention to HDD vibration if you want a quiet system. (Who doesn't) Antec 1200 is much heavier than HAF 932 and if you don't mind the window (and tangled cables being seen), it is probably more practical in terms of noise and durability.

I could post some pics if you want. My main rig is housed in a HAF 932 and my home server in an Antec 900. I recently purchased Zalman GS1000 for my AMD system but haven't finished it yet.

im a major ass when it comes to cable management now, and the HAF932 is a godsend. has the best cable management of any case i have ever seen. even if you plan to stick with air, it's got tons of options for changing the fan layout to your system, and plenty of space inside for bling as well if that's your thing. 1200 just doesnt compare

I'm pretty sure the Corsair 800D beats it on Cable Management.

I think you should go with the case that YOU want. No one else here can help you to be satisfied. Look at the features, go check it out at a local Fry's or MicroCenter, and make a decision.

If at all possible, try to see those cases in person.
It seems every time I try & find a replacement for my LL V1000, I read reviews till i'm blue in the face. I finally pull the trigger & once the case arrives i'm unhappy with it days later & I end up going back to my LL.
I don't think i'll buy another case based on recommendations/reviews unless I can see it in person. Everyone has a case they love, but what someone else loves, you might not think so much of. 🙂

Newer Antecs don't hold up too well to being thrown on the floor.

The Chenming built "file server" versions did well as long as you screwed the slide out drive cages in place.

i have both cases and prefer the HAF over the 1200 simply for fan arrangement, cable management, and HD compartments are much better/easier to access. Also it can fit longer video cards

it also costs more than twice as much. if it was out at the time i got mine and i could afford it, sure, i would have got it instead, though i would have to get a drive bay adapter for 2 of my hard drives lol.

Old ones hold up well?

Yes just the bezels may crack or shatter but the frames won't bend up. When that happens the components are threatened.

I'm intrigued. I'll try it some day with my Antec 900. If something goes wrong I will send you an invoice.

Do you intentionally throw your cases on the floor?

I don't but sometimes a strap fails and it will get knocked over or fall down! It's this time of the year where the weather starts getting the seas riled up.

I just lost a 295 and a 2GB stick of DDR3 because of insufficient tool-less clips for peripheral cards on a 932. Get rid of them and use a proper method (6x32 screw!) if you have these and transport your case frequently.

Did I miss something?

You know what's an even sexier case? The COSMOS 1000. Not to mention all the soundproofing and anti-vibration shit everywhere.

I just wish there was a tiny price drop on it so that I would have absolutely no problems with getting it for a new build, damn $130 missed deal!

What's so bad about the wiring in the 1200 btw? Seems the holes should take care of that pretty well.

I don't like the HAF because it looks like it uses that screwless expansion slot design which sucks ass for holding anything that isn't light as a feather in place. If you like your video card hanging a tiny bit and not being held in place by a sturdy screw, then you'll love it I guess.

I have been looking at the Antec 1200 as well, it seems like an awesome combo to go with the Antec CP-850 power supply, which has some excellent reviews as well. It seems like the perfect case for my needs, since I have 3 hard drives and looking to buy another couple for RAID. My current case is stuffed to the gills and even though I have 2 120 mm input fans and 2 x 80 mm output fans, and the temps have been alarmingly high on my motherboard readings, and the power supply I have now is in question as well.

Well Ruby has a point on HAF 932. The tool-less designs in the market today are crap. I prefer to use screws everywhere possible. Thankfully HAF 932 does allow screws if you choose to use, so that's what I did to my build.

How did you get your video cards working without power connections? 😉

The 4890 and 280 are 'decorations'. If you look closely you'll see a 3450 and a 8500 which don't require external power.

This is my previons build in an Antec 900. The 1200 should have improved upon this, but since the basic concept is the same for both 900 and 1200, neat-looking cabling will be still a difficult task.

As I said above, however, the 900 is a much firmer case than the HAF 932 so both have pluses and minuses.
