Hello...I recently got the Antec 1080AMG case...I'm very happy with it but still have a few dumb questions...how do you remove the front door? I think I understand how it is meant to be removed but I am thinking that it's wrong as I don't want to force it and risk breaking it. Also, the two rear fans...they can be daisy-chained together? And also plugged in to share power with a drive? I assume it's okay as it's working, but any reason I wouldn't want to do that? Finally, both fans in back seem to be blowing air into the case? Shouldn't one be like an exhaust fan? Thanks...ButtersStotch

just follow the directions for removing the door....mine has been stepped on twice, came off the hinges, and returned both times without cracking a thing :D ;) as for the fans, i would daisy chain them together, but i would not risk having them on the same rail as a hard drive. both back fans blow in and your front fan should be an exhaust fan.

My rig is running in the Antec SX835II which is the exact same case as the 1080 but without the front door. You said:

"both back fans blow in and your front fan should be an exhaust fan"
I have my two 80MM's blowing out of the back of the case and three more 80MM in the front blowing in. The power supply is exiting air out of the back of the case so it would not be efficient for the two back fans to be blowing air in.

Hence, three fans blowing in air in the front of the case and two fans plus the PSU (Which counts for two more fans) blowing air out the back of the case. This will facilitate the best current of airflow within the Antec Tower. (Which is One SWEET Rig holder) :D

You also mentioned

"as for the fans, i would daisy chain them together, but i would not risk having them on the same rail as a hard drive"
What risk is assiciated with running fans on the same rail as a HDD?

You asked,

i would think that if you have too many devices plugged into the same rail that an hdd is plugged into, then you lose some of the 5v running to the hdd to those items plugged in.

The front one should blow in and the back ones should blow out. The reason the front fan is lower most of the time on cases is so that it can retrieve cold air from the bottom of the floor on which it usually sits since cold air falls and the hot rises.

Oh,well there is no front fan...there is a thing to put one where the hard drives go but I didn't put one there...just left it the way it came...well, I also didn't plug the case's side fan in because it makes a high pitched noise that irritates me.

Unless I completely missed it, I'll have to go back in reread it, but the booklet with my case didn't say anything about how to remove the front. I was also unsure of if certain screws were to be for certain things and such...like certain screws for the five and a quarter drive rails and certain ones for hard disks, etc.

Ok, I always thought you'd blow cool air in and suck hot air out right? Hot air rises, so wouldn't the two rear fans blow out, while your panel and front fans suck in?

aRCeNiTe, yeah that's my thinking as well. I didn't word my question good enough about the fans. I have the case sent up the way it was shipped. There are the two rear fans and a side fan (There is physically a fan there, but I just don't use it ). Some of the open fan mounts are one for in front of the hard drives and then another lower one. So the front lower one would be pulling in cooler air if you placed it there. Of the two rear fans, the top one is warmer and the lower one pretty cool, so would moving the lower one to the front be a better setup? Meaning, I assume since the lower one is blowing out cold air most heat is going out the top one (under the power supply) so the lower fan is not as effective and would be more useful in the front of the case pulling air in?

I'm no expert but personally I would leave the 2 fans in back pulling the air out and just add an addtional fan in front. Antec Cooling Solutions

I just received my 1080 today and also was wondering about the necessity of the side fan. It's a neat idea I'm just curious about its functionality.
