Ant problem

So we got ants in our house. They only seem to appear when food is left out. Are they hiding out in the house somewhere? Or do they come in from the outside.

My roomate left a plate of food on the floor in his room and they appeared. We traced it back to the light socket. They seemed to be coming out of there. I was just in the kitchen and found a line of ants coming from a small hole in the corner of the ceiling. I'm wondering if they built a nest somewhere in the house? Or do they only come in from the outside.

Should I get a professional exterminator?

Thanks

Time to call an exterminator. Either that or wait for the next frost, but I don't think that will be any time soon.

It's almost a guarantee that they're coming from outside. But a ton of any killer, and line the perimeter or your house with it, see if that solves anything 😀

1. Stop being slobs and leaving plates of food, empty soda cans and pizza crusts all over the floor, couch and counters.
2. Hire an exterminator; you'll need 1 treatment a week for about two months.

6. Don't let things like meat bones/empty cans that held beans/chili/veggies sit in the garbage can; throw it out that night.

Good luck. Ants suck. Really. They are very difficult to get rid of b/c once you see them, you are infested. If you were to crack your walls open, you would not like what you would probably find.

(most) ants are not bad.

Just think of them as miniature cleaners. They're doing you a service, and getting food at the same time.

If you want to get rid of them, quit feeding them.

I agree, they're not really a pest. Honestly - If I had ants, and they didn't bite, I don't think I would really bother with them 😉

Ants tend to live in the walls of housing. THe only thing you can do is call an exterminator. It took me and my gandmother 5 years to get rid of a single colony.

🙂

You don't really need a professional exterminator. Buy Taro Liquid Ant Baits at your local Lowes. They are the only ones that work well. My professional exterminator gave them to me, and told me to use it. 🙂

I mean, what do you expect? I'm not going to squirt chemicals all over my place just because of some ants.

They aren't nasty like cockroaches or something like that.
