About Yahoo! and Yahoo! News:
First it had no ads, then banner ads, then those annoying "sidebar" ads, then those ones that expand when your pointer grazes over it, then the infamous Bernie Mac ones that just appear and you have to hunt for the close button, now they've crossed the line...ads INSIDE the text of a news article.

Example

What are these morons thinking? That suddenly people will say, "Ok! I give up! I'll go buy those products!" What kind of measure are they looking for to stop doing this? These ads will only drive people away.

Time to install an ad blocker again...:disgust:

My favourite are the flash ad banners that appear in your mail box and dance all about on the screen.

the only ads I find annoying are the shockwave or flash ads that dance around the screen when you go to certain websites. You almost always have to wait for the ad to finish playing, since you dont have an option to close it.

The only ads I do click on are the ones that have miniature games in them I cant resist them...:D

ZDNet does that too, to a certain extent. They used to use flash ads, which were a huge distraction when trying to read the article. As far as I can tell, they're all static now. They wrap the article around the left side of the ad, so it's not nearly as bad as Yahoo's cutting the article in half with it.

Yahoo tried to do too much, too fast. They were my search engine of choice for a long time, but all the crap they added during the internet boom has to be killing them now.

These types of ads give Flash such a bad reputation. I've always been saying you can do ANYTHING with Flash. ;)
