Let me start off by first saying I am helping a friend who sent me this email today, so please be easy on my I'm definately no expert on this.
"I have an AMD 64 bit processor PC that I am trying to load Windows XP on and when Windows loads up so I can begin installing it, it crashes right before I am able to select which drive I want to install on it. The computer shuts off cold, as if I hit the power button. I have already replaced the case, power supply, and motherboard..."

When you say it crashes right before you are able to select the drive you want to install it on, do you mean it blue screens? Does it reboot? or does it just hang and doesn't go any further?

You really haven't given us much to work with. However, if I were to form a diagnosis on the basis of your post, I would be looking at possible heat and/or ram issues.

Please provide us with the machine's complete specs ... mobo brand and numbers ... the power supply make and model ... the type of ram you're using ... your processor, etc. If you're seeing a blue screen or any error messages, we need those too. You know the routine .... you're not a "noob."

Sorry I didn't provide all the details, I'm going to try and get my friend on later to fill in the blanks. To my understanding though right when the Windows install begins after the format and everything his computer shuts down completely like the power was being pulled. It doesn't reboot after, just stays off. When I get the specs I'll let you guys know.
