I only have six days left for activation so I decided I will go ahead and do it. I got my Win XP Pro OEM with my new system and I don't see a product key or any serial number anywhere in my little booklet or on the installation CD.

However on the back of my booklet is written "The Certificate of Authenticity label has been removed by your PC manufacturer and should be attached to your PC." in the lower left hand corner. Did the guy forget to give me something back after installing XP? Or do I not need a number?

You should have a sticker attached to your PC that has your product key. If not, contact your vendor. That is your proof of license.

You will not the product-key to activate as it was used to install the OS...But,(and this is a big BUT!!), you will need the product-key if you ever have to re-install the OS. I would be gettin' back to whomever you got the OS and/or the PC from and get the COA label.
