Ethics is nothing you can't get rid of with some well placed bribes.
Again, how do you end up better off? Expanding government to protect some companies, or decreasing the amount of things that they control? If you know bribes will take place at the government level, all we can do is decrease it.

Removing those taking bribes from positions of power is a good start. Or to simply not count their votes when it concerns that topic.

If the companies clearly abuse their positions something has to be done about it.

As we know, that's practically impossible to do.

Right, but I bet most bribes are never seen in public light. What we read and hear about is probably only a small fraction of what goes on. What about deferred bribes then - they make something happen while they're in power, but then the payment comes after their term is up when they have less scrutiny?

How will all of those be cracked down on?

It's almost impossible to prevent. But it means that unless you hold a referendum you don't actually have a democracy, that instead the country is governed by corruption.

We only have one party here which can be somewhat trusted in that sense, and those are ex-communists where the politicians actually voluntarily cut their own salaries down to the country's average. Anything they make more than that they donate to the party, which uses it for various purposes (including helping needy people).

yet you guys still subscribe to cable TV. Cancel in mass to put them in a choke hold.

My .02 cents: have high speed intenet, cable tv and phone, all for under $100 per month. Why would i cancel when i get tons of channels, unlimited calling and fast hsd.

It amazes me how some of you are complaining you have to pay x dollars for internet, if you don't like it, so back to dial up, stop your whining.

Here's my issue with this - if people had an issue with the internet service, why didn't they put their own dollars where their mouths are? They could have started their own ISP or even pooled money together to serve as an investment in one.

This is just like the insurance company thing - a lot of people complain about them, but all they want is government policies to be put in place to control the people already doing it. If there is such a big problem, why don't more and more people go out and actually create a business? You can't have your cake and eat it too - starting a business is really tough.

They did. The government created a less expensive internet service than the cable companies'.

The more government gets in the way, the less people will do.

There HAS to be a modicum of govt regulation because when govt completely gets out of the way, financial meltdown of 2008 happens. I'm amazed that people are already calling for less govt regulation when we're still recovering from the worldwide economic crash which happened because of a lack of proper regulation! Man people have sucky memories. Either that, or they are so blinded by the republican mantra of smaller govt that they just stick their head in the sand and pray for the best behavior from all the people in power.

Yeah I think common sense is fading fast. We used to have great thinkers in the political game with actual ideas. On the conservative side, you had men like William F. Buckley, and whether or not you agreed with him, there was no denying he was highly intelligent and didn't arrive at conclusions without an undeniable path of logic. Now you just have talking heads blathering and interrupting each other for more ridiculous sound bites. It sucks on both sides too, Obama does 90% of the same old shit that Bush did, but of course when Obama does it, FNC calls it evil communism/etc, while the super-liberals like Maddow who slammed Bush for doing the same things will cheer Obama for them.

Hypocrisy, stupidity, greed, hatred, destruction. Our country is going to fail utterly, and it's really our fault as a nation of overwhelmingly ignorant people. Ignorant citizens given zombie education by a shit system + super abusive/greedy 1%'ers + corrupt gov't + corrupt business + corrupt media = fail. You can only shit downhill so often before the shit comes up all the way to the top of the hill and drowns everyone.
