My CRT is dying and I've been playing with the idea of a LCD and I'm thinking of going for broke and getting a widescreen.

So what are the top picks out right now in the $300-500 range? The VeiwSonic VX2025 looks like a good one but I haven't kept track of whats out there.

Don't just sit there! Help me spend my money! :D

I thought the gateway wasn't HDCP compliant. Hmm..

Compusa had a VX2025 on display that the guy said had only been sitting out for three days, got them to take $25 off and I got their three year warranty just in case.

Maybe I'm just not used to LCDs but my screen has a pixelated haze on it, almost like it needs to be cleaned but doing so doesn't help.

I wonder if it has something to do with the anti-glare on the screen. Any ideas?

Cat really take a pic of it. Found out that it is the antiglare from reading on HardOCP, Some people can see it while some have no idea it's there.

I'm going to see about taking it back tomorrow.

I don't really think I could get used to this. It's like looking through a screen door causing a moire effect, killing my eyes.

So I returned the VX2025 and got a LG L203WT on sale for $450. I can still see sparkles but the shimmering is gone and so is the eye strain. Still trying to tweak the color but so far its pretty good, never going to be as good as a CRT but I don't do that much Photoshop work now so it won't be a big issue.

Four things that really bug are:

*Blacks aren't as black as I would like but that comes with owning a LCD. The backlight however is near perfect, no "X" and even spread across the screen.

*Viewing angle is kinda borked, especially top to bottom. you have to look at it just right or you get a fading effect. Lucky for me, my slouching position works with this screen. :)

*Color banding is there, I'm not sure how much money you have to spend not to have this since most of the LCDs posted on HardOCP talk about it. But what ever it is, I'm sure it's too much.

*No DVI cable?! I spend $450 and they can't give me a DVI cable?

I may get a Samsung 215TW just to see how it looks and keep the one I like but I think that my be more hassle than it's worth.
