another "why was my thread locked"

Somebody seems to think that by locking rather than moving threads people will stop posting in the wrong forum. I wonder if they realize yet that it's not working.

It would seem to be up the the discression of the Mod and also the attitude/length of serve ofthe poster.

I am not sure what you mean by "not working".
If you mean that people are still posting in the wrong forum, that will never stop. Some people don't know better and some people are retards. It's never going to stop.

I have a suggestion for those of you who don't like the way the forums are run:
1. Start your own forums
2. Move posts instead of locking them
3. Surpass AnandTech in terms of membership
4. Profit

or, blow it off as the way it is here....

Now, go ahead and flame me because my opinion is different than yours and yours can be the only right way. It's the FI creed.

That's a lot of work considering it doesn't take much for a mod to just move a thread instead of locking. Why are you all uppity?

1) possibly because if threads were moved all the time, people would just post a thread in FI and expect the Mods to move it properly. Why should the Mods do the work of a member who was to careless to do something properly and/or knowingly put it in the incorrect area.

2) Uppity is Olds middle name😛

He's a n00b, he wouldn't know. 😉
Part of the uppity is because I have been here almost 6 years. In that six years, I have seen this same question asked 56,486 times. Yes, I counted. 😉

it is all to easy for a poster to post something in off topic knowing he will get the exposure he wants before a mod will move it to the correct forum.

but if a mod locks it, he has to type it all over again in the correct forum himself. He might think twice next time.

Most of the locked wrong forum threads are by ppl who should know better to begin with.
