Another "What Laptop Should I Buy" Thread

So being a college student taking engineering and all, I decided a laptop would be really helpful since a lot my content is online. Anyways I'm looking for a $650 laptop, I'm looking a lot into lightly used or like new laptops for sale locally. I'm not going to be gaming but I'll be watching a movie or show once in a while, but battery life is an important aspect. So what do you guys suggest I get? I'll also post some local laptops asking if they're good. Thanks for the help, gotta get back to studying for finals. :'(

Ok that is a cool new piece of hardware but the RT is locked down software wise. It does not have a full operating system. The bigger version will have a real CPU and a real OS but it will be more expensive.

Yeah, $620 with the keyboard just put me off, that's a bit too much for a tablet.

If your interested in the RT but turned off by the price and limitations, there's a $500 Windows 8 touchscreen ultraportable.

Its not running a fast Core i but for video, google docs, etc it should be plenty and certainly better than the RT's Tegra 3 that ramps up running Word (LOL).

If you can stretch your budget to $700, a NEW X230 laptop, with an IPS screen can be had. If you're looking for battery life, I would go for new. Batteries degrade over time, and used batteries tend to have less capacity.
