Another watercooling question..............

With water at room temp and just being cooled by the fan/rad combo, what are the chances of having condensation forming on the block itself?

Am I just worrying myself too much on condensation or there is a small chance that it may occur. If so at what temps could these happen?

Please note that this is just a hypothetical question and in no way that I have the setup yet. Just getting as much info as I can at the moment.

Thanks.

You don't have to worry about condensation until you get near freezing. The only problem you'd ever had with a water cooling rig is if you spring a leak, unless you are using something like a pelt to get the processor really cold.

There is a zero chance of condensation with a watercooling rig. It will never drop below ambient temps and that is the only time condensation is possible.

I'm in the process of building one myself.

I bought my Rio 1100 (380 GPH) pump for $20 at www.graystonecreations.com
I bought my Gemini High-flow waterblock at www.geminicool.com for ~$45 shipped.
I got my HUGE heatercore from a 1988 Ford Aerostar van tonight at the junkyard for $10.
And I got my hose and barbes and clamps and stuff from Home Depot for $15.

OH YEAH. And it will kick the crap out of any "kit" you can buy (unless you're willing to spend over $250).

There's lots of stuff to look at on www.overclockers.com

Thanks Lebe, going to look into that. One question though, would those guys at the junkyard take out the heatercore out of the car or do I have to do it myself?

Most boneyards will remove parts for you, but it'll cost more. You could also try the auto part stores for a new one, but those will much more expensive.

Lebe is right.. I'd never buy a kit.. those are such BS.
Those Gemini blocks are alright... Keep an eye out for my signature series.. later this summer most likely. Gemini has a real nice complete setup though.. check that out. I've been to gemini cool and seen all his products myself. Good guy.. who makes good products.

Oh, you won't spring a leak unless you are like me always fooling around with the setup.. lol. Just set it up.. fill with water and start the pump .. then turn it off a second later.. keep pumping it like that until water gets all the way around.. that way if a leak forms... there won't be full flowing water in the lines.. just that little bit of stagnant water. Easy to deal with them. Keep a pan and a few bath towels around. Set it up and use those metal hose clamps or plastic tie straps where needed. If you have a tiny leak on the water block connection.. try a little bit of silicon sealent.. let it fully dry (atleast 4 hours) then retry it. I used the hose clamps on my radiator, water block and even my pump connection which has a 3/4" ID hose .. which then a 1/2" ID 3/4" OD tube slid right into it.. i used some silicon sealent and a hose clamp. The connection my pump had was 3/4"... so I used that step down method to get over that bump.
If you want some pics of my setup .. let me know.
