Another Vista Upgrade versions question

With the upgrade are you required to insert a windows XP disc? Or is just having XP installed enough? I never got one with my dell computer, so I be buying the retail version if that's the case.

Actually you used to be able to do a clean install from an upgrade license by putting in an old windows disc during installation, Vista requires you to have the OS installed to use the upgrade now. If you buy the upgrade and have windows installed you will have no problems.

what about a reinstall, down the road ? Or is Vista so good that will never be required ?

I think you can repair, and I think you might be able to do a fresh install over another valid copy of windows, but i don't have an upgrade version to be sure.
