I'm assuming you're talking about the original metal slinkys? 'Cuz the colorful plastic ones would just be plain silly 😛

I am a HAM and in some of the books it recommends using a slinky thrown over a tree as an antenna if you cant get good reception.

It works all right, but of course, not as well as a real antenna.

Ok, as a technical retard, I'm at a loss as to how this would work. I see where the slinky would increase the area of reception of the receiver, but wouldn't it need to be hard wired to something before it made a difference?
