hey guys, i know there's been some talk about when the client is interrupted, but I just noticed on a friend's computer that the client wasn't communicating (which, I've seen before) but that this time, it wasn't working on anything. I'm wondering if it's possible to "store" some extra WU (i don't know what else to call it) so that while not-communicating, the client would still have stuff to crunch.
is that what extra storage space does?

tia

I've read threads that talked about a cache for SETI so they have some WU's stored up and everyone gets to keep on crunchin'. I haven't got a clue about what is really being done or how.

Maybe one of those Martian chasers could pop in here and help us out ????? PURDY PLEEEEEEEEEEZE 😀

(I noticed my performance rating is continuing to go down during this also.... I've gone from 140 to the low 90's......... I knew I should have just kept that K6-2

I have been experiencing difficulties recently with sending the DU WUs back and getting a new one. Anyone else?

Yepperz!

Their database crashed.

PS: Thanks Crazee! can the UD monitor d/l work units but not process them until I tell it to? (eg: can I fill 4 or 5 slots and just hang on to them while the regular UD agent works normally, then make the cached slots execute if I notice the server has gone down at some later date?)

Man, I hope so. That's where it would come in handy. It would suck to have to always download 5-6, do them & then download some more.

Insidious, are you saying that UD's database got its bytes in a bunch?
If so that would explain the difficulty returning and recieving WUs.

I found this just now in the member forums at UD

The database has been rebuilt, restored and re-depolyed. Your UD Agent will now attempt to connect to the server, return results and get a new work unit, however you may experience delays given the large number of Agents trying to connect. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your continued support.

Hopefully, we are done with the bunched bytes...........

you can poke around here and see the stuff I've been reading
