well as the title suggests, i'm having trouble finding software to monitor my temps/voltages/fan RPMS. i'm not sure how much it'll matter, but i've just built a new system based on the following specs:
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 mobo
4GB (2 x 2GB) Mushkin Enhanced Redline DDR3 1600 (PC12800)
Windows XP Professional 2002 SP3
i used to use either Motherboard Monitor to monitor such things, however this was back in the days of my PIII 700E system and P4 1.6A system. later i upgraded to a P4 2.6C platform. i found SpeedFan to be good with that setup, as well as MBM. but as most of you know, MBM revisions and support ended years ago, and so it doesn't support many newer motherboards. sure enough, even though the install seems to go cleanly, i get an error a second or two after starting the program (while the splash screen is still showing). it freezes up from there and i have to close it.
i thought i would give SpeedFan a try since MBM wasn't working. again, the program seemed to install without a hitch, and i also got no runtime errors after start-up. however, while the temps it was reporting looked accurate enough, one of the fan RPMs was being reported incorrectly (specifically, the CPU fan was being reported @ 18 RPM lol), and pretty much ALL of the voltages were being misreported by large margins.
so i installed ASUS PC Probe II hoping it would 1) work, and 2) give me accurate temp, voltage, and fan RPM readings. i was reluctant to do this, as my experience with PC Probe in the past was quite a turn-off. fortunately that was almost 10 years ago, and the software has come a long way since then. it does work and it does seem to report accurate data. its almost perfect for what i want and need...i say almost b/c its missing one VERY important voltage reading - the memory voltage! again, i can't use MBM to get this reading b/c it won't run on my new system, and i can't use SpeedFan b/c, although it runs, it reports faulty voltages across the board.
at this point i decided to search the AT forums for another software suite that covered it all, but was unsuccessful. i did discover Core Temp in my search though, and i'm now using it b/c i love that i can monitor the temps of all 6 CPU cores at once. and so i'm getting more and more open to the idea of running 2 programs if i have to in order to get all the information i want reliably. but if there's another one out there that covers it all like MBM or SpeedFan, i'd love to give it a try.
TIA,
Eric
