How about along with bold, underline, etc, we add one for strikethru. Unlike some of the other text formatting changes (*cough*highlighting*cough*) it wouldn't be obtrusive and could be rather useful in some instances.
 
There are problems with strikethru on some browsers? Damn, I thought it was a feature built into the windows GDI afaik, hmm.
 
I take that back.

I just checked and it works on IE3+ and NS4+. (Unsure about NS3.x) I think that's good enough. 🙂

Pretender: It's not a matter of strikethrough existing in Windows GDI. It's a matter of web browsers recognizing that CSS or HTML and rendering the page appropriately.
