Hey....has anyone here tried using fan bay thats placed inside of the bottom removeable 3.5" tray? It seems that I have to remove the purple plastic casing before i can fit a HD in there. Am I doing something wrong? Isnt it kinda pointless to advertise 2 front fans when I can really only use 2? Any ideas/comments on this? What am i doing wrong?

oh.. i think i know what your talking about
the purple thing in the hd bay had no fan on mine when i got it, so i stuck a fan in there so that air would directly blow into my hd's to keep them cool
also, the hd's should stick out a bit.. a little bit more than half the harddrive should go in.. i attached a hd to the top of the bay, and bottom of the bay, so that air would flow in between them...
also.. the back case fans were positioned to blow air out of the computer, so i flipped them over so that they blow in right to the cpu area...

I think you would get better results with the rear fans in exhaust. The air is still being pulled over your CPU. That way you have a systematic flow of cool air coming in the front and all hotter air being exhausted out the back. In your current situation you have three fans as intake which are a higher CFM capacity then the power supply so basically you are increasing the pressure of the case and forceing air out of the path of least resistance which is not as effective.

i have a 1030b. the purple thingies hold fans. only 2 come installed obviously. just stick a sunon in there to blow in towards ur hd's. rear preinstalled fans blow out, getting equal pressure. its nice. what i didnt like is that they didnt put one for the top bay, so i had to tie on a fan. but whatever works. i ahve 3 fans blowing in, all into the hd's cept the one on the bottom. and the 2 blowing out. all using quiet 80mm sunons. its still pretty loud. will build some sort of fan control later. =)
