Well some of that is true, but if he received a traffic ticket, the court date he received is not a trial. it is a day to state his plea (guilty or not guilty) when he goes to court, if it a is a bad ticket, he should have a lawyer to plea bargain his ticket down. he has a better chance of getting a lower fine/offence than if he were defending himself. In Most cases the prosecuter will plea to a lower offense and all will be fine. if the defendant can not plea himself down to a lower fine, than he has the option to go to trial. this is where the you have to worry if the officer shows up or not. if the officer shows up for the trial than you have to go through with it, if the officer does not show up for trial than you will win. Technicaly the officer does not have to show up for the court date on your ticket. but 99% of the time i would say he does show up, because he assigns almost all of his tickets for the same day. this is for New Jersey who knows what happens in other states.
I have had my share of traffic court...
