Another soundcard question?

What kind of speakers / headphones are you using? It might not make sense to spend more on the soundcard unless you have a good output device.

If you're going to be gaming, that particular X-Fi isn't a good choice as it lacks the harware acceleration capabilities of the other versions.
 
If this comes back in stock at $50 with google checkout, this would be a cheap one to get for gaming.

Getting better output devices though be high on your to-do list if you do get an X-Fi. Without better devices, you're not going to get as much benefit from the new card.

Save your dough. I'm not knocking your HP and speaker choices but you really wont benefit with a sound card upgrade. My 2 pennies.
 
Thanks for the input guys,I have used soundblaster cards in the past in Hp and 1 custom built machine and it was an improvement,but that was a couple years ago or so.
I was digging through my pc stuff and found an older soundblaster 5.1 live card i guess ill give it a whirl and see was it sounds like.
