They were at a crosswalk and pressed the button but IFTWM I'd wait to make sure the cars were going to actually stop before just walking onto a crowded freeway.

I wouldn't be anywhere near a road in Russia. Not as a pedestrian, not as a driver, not as a passenger. You're living on borrowed time, it's not IF someone will run into you, it's just a question of WHEN.

Nothing cosmic, never assume the lights make it safe to cross the street, always look both ways.

Pedestrian xsings are designed very differently in Europe w/out lights and crossing 4 lanes.

Those are just a terrible and horrible designs that ask for those kind of accidents.

There is no fricking way that smaller car slams brakes to let pedestrians cross while huge truck is 15 feet behind.

The car was playing chicken with the people and the people were playing chicken with the car. Both lost this one.

But what was the truck driver thinking? Was it a skid that made him drift or he just thought it would be smart to go into on coming traffic to avoid the rear end?

Crazy

I was watching the TopGear USA logging truck episode the other night.

When you hear (world record setting) rally car driver Tanner Faust say driving a semi is the most dangerous thing he's ever done...and then you start thinking about how many semi drivers are no where as good of a driver as Tanner.....

It happens here from time to time on Atlanta's interstates. Its usually unregistered people that come from places where they don't have highway traffic like America does. They get squished up like other roadkill.
