Herman Cain is now saying that any Muslim in his administration will be required to take a special "Constitution loyalty oath"

Link

Transcript Quote:
BECK: So wait a minute. Are you saying that Muslims have to prove their, that there has to be some loyalty proof?

CAIN: Yes, to the Constitution of the United States of America.

BECK: Would you do that to a Catholic or would you do that to a Mormon?

CAIN: Nope, I wouldn’t. Because there is a greater dangerous part of the Muslim faith than there is in these other religions. I know that there are some Muslims who talk about, “but we are a peaceful religion.” And I’m sure that there are some peace-loving Muslims.

Bigotry FTW! Not that he really had a chance at getting elected anyway, but comments like that make him totally un-electable in the general election even if he were to get the nomination.

Considering he already said he wouldn't let Muslims in his administration at all previously this is a big step for intolerance for Mr. Cain.

How sad that this counts as an improvement for a Presidential candidate.

All of these gaffs/blunders are making it easier and easier for the libertarian minded republicans (Ron Paul and Gary Johnson). Keep it up!

GOP really needs to get away from this appeal to the fringe during the primary process. They are digging some mighty big holes that will be very hard to crawl out of. Independents will decide this election and this radicalization will not help the GOP.

Sounds like he is becoming more tolerant. I thought that earlier he said he would not allow any Muslims to be part of his administration.

The bigger issue is this sentiment is felt by a much larger group of people, spanning Republicans, Democrats, and independents. He simply is honest with himself.

Yeah, he just lost the Muslim vote.

He may have lost the Muslim vote but its small enough to inconsequential. If ole Herman were a public official he would get dope slapped, but as a private citizen he can get away with this bigotry crap.

But cheer up Mr. Cain, you done pissed me off and I will never buy a product you are affiliated with. And I will suggest to everyone I know to do the same. Yep, and I don't forgive easily, when I get pissed off it last a lifetime.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it some time Herman Cain, in the hopes you will grow a brain.

As a supposedly non-hysterical, non-bigot and a fundamentally decent human being, THIS is your sole public response to his disgustingly ignorant, bottom of the gene pool pandering -- dismissive sarcasm?

Shame on you, I thought you a better man.

Every Muslim is loyal first and foremost to the Quran and to Islam, and to secular institutions second. So to a Muslim, an oath to the Constitution is meaningless if some aspect of the Constitution is in conflict with Islam.

How is this any different from Christianity?

We shouldn't even be looking at religious affiliation when choosing those for public office. We should look at their policies instead.

Mr Cain is talking to the GOP base. It looks like smacking Muslims is a good thing for them. The same way Mr Trump became the hot thing for awhile when he voiced the Birther fantasies about Mr Obama.

What I wonder is how well Mr Cain's anti-Muslimism is going to play in a general election. How Islamaphobic is the US?

A lot of high level government officials already make oaths to the constitution. Also, it's illegal to require special tests to Muslims over all else in order for them to have government jobs, that's pretty explicit in the Constitution.

And you're OK with that?

Nothing I write on an internet forum can change the thoughts and feelings of those in this specific situation. The only options that are within my capacity to do, are to either allow this topic piss me off, or not allow this topic piss me off. Right now I choose the latter.

If this guy had said nothing, where you would have never been alerted to the religious distribution of his administration, would you be OK with that?

He has yet to say anything I disagree with. Love that guy.

Hey birds of a feather flock together. To be honest if I were President I'd make those like you, you know, raving lunatics, take a mental compentency test before I'd even let you enter the White House for a tour.

If this guy had said nothing, and just passed over appointing Muslims in his administration, to where you wouldn't even have never been alerted to the religious distribution, would you be OK with that?

If I didn't know how could I be bothered? At least he was honest enough to let everybody know that he isn't fit to be President.
