My 2000 Nissan Sentra (in my sig) recently had a recall... a faulty engine sensor, nothing major.
So i took it to the nissan dealership yesterday to get it fixed, (becuase they do it for free) i was supposed to go pick up my car last night but didnt have time so i waited until this morning.
I got the maintenence department and the guy was like "hey... here are your keys.. and we were a little bored last night so we decided to wash your car for you."
Hell yeah, it had been dirty, and they did a real good job cleaning it.
Just another example of nissan goes above and beyond the call of duty, and why they kick ass.

I've always wondered about those recall situations. Does the manufacturer/dealership call you about it, or is it your responsibility to find out about it and book the appointment? Just curious.

RedRooster: Usually they let you know in the form of snail mail. Not sure though, I guess it depends on manufacturer and the type of recall.

rallispec: Our Nissan dealer usually washes our Maxima when we go for an oil change (which is free for us!). However we are the lucky ones. Usually Nissan dealers suck ass and are imcompetent. Nissan service is an oxymoron...hehe.

Yep, sounds like an exception rather than a rule.

I once went into a lexus dealership and was treated like ass. It took me 30 minutes to get to talk to someone, who then said that they don't have es300s for test drives because people who buy lexuses already know what they want in a car and don't need to test drive it. He then said it was a 6 month wait for a lexus and after handing me a pamphlet, left. Apparently our local lexus dealer is not up to snuff with the rest.

'91 Nissan Stanza here running strong.

I've been guilty of pushing it to 120mph at times (no mods).

If you don't mind me slipping in a question here, what is the repercussions of using a worn strut that needs replacing for an extended period of time?

normally, a worn strut will start to make some noise when the car is moving. Also, the car will not correct itself after a bump, instead you will bounce up and down for awhile, like a lowrider. Finally, braking is harder, because the tire will not make as much contact with the road.

A good way to test if the struts are going is to go on the freeway and make a sweeping turn. The car may feel like its rocking and riding on the wheels that are taking the turn(right turn - left tires, left turn - right tires).

Tallest1, 120 in a stanza? cool... i've only ever gotten my sentra up to 110, however i'm sure it could go faster.

What does that have to do with Nissan? I doubt the CEO or even the dealership manager told those dudes to wash your car, they just did it because they were bored and nice.

nothing, just as his car getting washed has nothing to do with nissan...

but I think the point was that some lexus dealerships are bad just like some nissan dealerships are bad, illustrating the point that service depende on the particular dealership

duh

my 2001 altima has this wierd problem where if i dont drive it for a couple days especially when its real cold, i have to shift to neutral first to start and cant do it in park. happens really rarely. i took it to the dealer and the only way they could look at it was a $80 diagnostic. they did it and found nothing but they didnt charge me. i had to take it in for an oil change anyways, so why not right. i'm pretty sure my car just has some wierd problem from being a used insurance repo salvaged car. ohwell it works for the most part.

the other thing i like about nissan is their spare parts are cheap. like those little plastic knobs and things that break sometimes (like the plastic visor clip). like my dad drives a toyota and the little pieces cost so much more from toyota.

the point is, normally you hear of car dealership people trying to rip you off and not do quality work and stuff like that... Usually they could care less about the customer. However the people at nissan seem to be genuinely nice.. at least at the local dealership.. and i think that is very rare and deserves some sort of praise. :)

ummm.....that isn't nissan. I think you will find that all good dealerships wash your car every time you bring it in for service (even a simple oil change), and if they don't wash it than it is a horse$hit dealer.

my mom has a VW, and she's never had it done for her.. and i had never had the honda dealership do that for me before when i had my old car. I guess nissans are 'good dealerships'.. but we already knew that. :)
