another reason to hate rebates...

ok this sucks big time. i got in on a hot deal for a cdrw drive from office max on 3/17. of course, it would only be a hot deal if i got my mail in rebate. terms of the rebate were like "request for rebates must be postmarked within 15 days of purchase". so ok... i procrastinate a little, and get my stuff out on friday 3/29. is it just me, or doesn't mail go out from local post offices at 5pm also? well... according to my post office, it does. anyway, even if mail did not go out @ 5 that day... it should have been stamped (aka - postmarked) right? if not at 5pm, then the next day. i know post offices are open on saturdays. so anyway, the cdrw manufacturer sends me an email saying my sh!t is invalid becuz:

We apologize for the misunderstanding, but your rebate is invalid because your rebate submission was not postmarked before the promotion deadline. A postcard acknowledging your invalid reason will be mailed to you.

that is utter and total cow dung. wtf man?!?! is there anything i can do about this? am i within my rights to ask them to show me proof... as in a copy of the postmarked envelope? friggin sucks... i hate rebates. whoever thought up of this idea... i hope ur kids are born without a butthole (translate to cantonese and it'll sound right). :|

bug the hell out of them.. Rebates were made so they could try to rip you out of them.. MAKE SURE THEY DAMN WELL KNOW THAT YOUR TIME IS WORTH LESS THAN THEIRS! always works.

I got a $60 rebate in the mail today for an item I had completely forgotten about Woohoo!

And yes, they do try to screw you in every possible way with rebates. Essentially they're just looking for an excuse as to why they can't give it to you.

Who's the rebate from? OM? Only company I've had problems with was Diamond Multimedia and their Diamond Rio rebates. What a joke.

I had two Diamond rebates years ago (they were for Voodoo 2 cards, so it has been a while) and it was like pulling teeth to get my money.

As long as it was ordered on 3/17 (and not just received) it definitely was within 15 days. I'd just call them up, explain it to them, they oughtta take care of it. If nothing else they may just give you a "one time customer service thingy."

fuji rebates suck also. I sent in both the visioneer scanner rebate and fuji on the same day. Now, my visioneer rebate is in the final process, I should receive within 15 days.....while fuji rebate center still shows my rebate as New:disgust:

These companies will do anything to get out of rebates. I had one rebate that took nearly a year to process and I have another rebate that I've yet to see and it's over 6 months.
