In the second debate Bush clearly stated that he did not want to import prescription drugs from Canada.
In the third debate Bush states that he is now looking into importing this year's flu vaccine from Canada.
Is this hypocritical or what?

I think there are a lot of Bush supporters(myself included) who would admit that his answer to the canadian drugs question was pretty pathetic. Kerry clearly won that issue and made Bush look like an idiot.
Of course what Kerry failed to mention was that if we allow the importation of drugs from canada, the loss of profit margins from US sales will be made up by raising the prices at which the drugs are sold to Canada. So what would most likely happen is we would split the difference. If buying in Canada is now 30% cheaper, the price would go up 15% in Canada and go down 15% in the US. So yeah, we would save some money, but Kerry is exaggerating the amount.
I am in favor of allowing that though if that is what it takes to stop US drug purchasers from subsidizing the canadian purchasers.

After the Swine Flu immunization fiasco, it's difficult to find US manufacturers that are willing to accept the liability of producing vaccines.

Prohibiting reimportation of American pharmaceuticals is hypocritical if you profess to believe in free markets. Yes, the price differences will even themselves out if allowed to flow a natural course, and I think it should be allowed to happen. Allowing some free trade but prohibiting other free trade amounts to favoritism, and looking at the people in Bush?s cabinets and other appointments that we?ve probably never heard of? (to paraphrase Bush himself) it?s not difficult to see who he favors. (Mostly energy and pharmaceutical interests, in case you haven?t been paying attention.)
