Another question for the carpenters - about basement finishing.

I am putting Dri-Core on the concrete slab as a sub floor. Planning on finishing the walls with 2x2 PT, insulation and Gypsum board. Should I put the subfloor down first and then frame the walls on top of it - to keep the walls off of the floor which tends to get a little damp/wet - or should I frame the walls first and the lay the subfloor against the walls?

how big is your basement...Dri-Core goes for about $5 for a 2' x 2' panel...

it is a nice system, but very costly...

Have you looked into Platon?

Making Interior walls

1. An interior stud wall can be set right on top of your new DRIcore subfloor, and is, in fact, the preferred method of installation. Install your 2X4 frame directly on top of the subfloor, measuring for a "snug" fit between the subfloor and ceiling.

2. Once the frame is in position, simply screw the bottom plates of the 2X4" frame to the DRIcore panels, using 2" wood screws. To finish the anchoring process, we suggest fastening the bottom plate to the concrete floor using either 3" concrete nails or self-tapping concrete fasteners.

3. Only minimal fastening to the concrete is required. For example, for every 8? length of base plate, install only two concrete anchors. Note: If you are planning to use metal studs in place of wood, the base track for the studs should be affixed to the DRIcore panels with 5/8? wood screws as a maximum. Metal stud base plates should be anchored in concrete every 2' when installing over DRIcore panels.

Thanks for the responses. The basement is about 700 sq ft. I know he dri-core is expensive...it's already bought. Platon looks like it has to be used around the outside of the foundation...this is an old structure. That would be too difficult to retrofit. I'll look into it for my new construction projects though.

Ok, so walls on floor. Done and done.
