I can get this chip to 638 (8.5x75) default voltage. I can boot into Win98 no problems at 705 (8.5x83), and can run all kinds of stuff with no problems, HOWEVER, I can't see other PCs on my network, nor can I get out to the interet through my LinkSys cable/router. I have a NetGear NIC in the last PCI slot (I think). I'm using a Golden Orb and an MSI converter. I know that these chips hold some promise of doing 850, but I'm not sure if the problems I am encountering are CPU problems or other hardware problems.

On a happy note, I placed a HD on my desk for testing, not aware that there was something metal under the HD. Supplied power, heard that famous Rice Crispies sound, smelled smoke... goodbye HD! Fortunately, it was not a great loss... 5400rpm 4.3gig SCSI. *SIGH*

Thanks!

I happen to have one PC setup the way you describe. The problem is that the NetGear PCI card does not like being overclocked one little bit. When I had the NetGear in my PC, I had to choose the 1/4 dividers when overclocking a PIII-650 above 100FSB or the net card was a 'no-go'. Replaced with Intel 100+Management Pro net card and had no trouble.

If you havn't gone to 100FSB on this chip yet, I suggest you do so. All this stuff will sort out right away as the 100FSB with 1/3 divider is not overclocking your PCI bus. I bumped up voltage to 1.7V to get stable at 850+ CPU speeds.
