Another question about drives and SATA/IDE config

I know this is a stupid question and I think the answer is no -BUT since this is the first SATA comp I have ever had I'm not 100% positive. Right now I have one Hitachi 250gb SATA going to the SATA1 and a NEC3500A and a Sam DVD-ROm on IDE. The NEC and Sam are masters on seperate IDE channels.

-Is this the best setup for me?-

-Does the SATA drive use any of the IDE bandwidth on the motherboard?

Last question:

-On the IDE drives, should I use a "Y" (2-device) IDE cable or should I get two seperate cables? I was pretty sure even two drives couldn't fill the pipe on IDE cable but maybe i'm wrong.

Thanks,
Rhin0

If you want to do 'on the fly' copies with your burner, then the drives should each be on its own channel - IOW, two IDE cables.
