Another question about Ashcroft..

Sorry if this has been posted before but I want to know what laws he believes in more .. The laws of god or the laws of the United States? If he said he would uphold the laws of the US over the Laws of his God then wouldn't that be betraying his faith?

<< If he said he would uphold the laws of the US over the Laws of his God then wouldn't that be betraying his faith? >>

You've hit the nail on the head. It depends which his faith thinks is worse (1) aiding murder (his view of abortion) (2) disobeying the law. Of course he's a seasoned politican so he'll probably find a way that will appease his god and appease Congress (at least enough to keep him from getting kicked out).

This is positively asinine. He has stated on numerous occasions that he would enforce the laws enacted by Congress, as is expected of the Attorney General. While he has argued against some of them rather ardently, he has also stated that he understands the difference between enactment and enforcement, something which appears to elude Democratic senators (Diane Feinstein, that idiot).

He has served as the head of the organization representing all attorneys general of the individual states, representing both Republicans and Democrats. He has also served as the head of the organization representing all governors of the states, again both Republican and Democrat. He has a long and distinguished political career and is a better man than the vast majority of his critics. Give it up already.

"Doesn't matter.........he's in.......all the signs say he'll be approved. "

Is the reason he is goin to be approved because he was a fellow senator or because he was the best person for the job? I've heard numerous senators already say that he will get the majority just because of his past service in the senate..

He's in because he's a good man, and a capable man for the job. Those that have actually worked with him and know him (Dems and Repubs) know better than to believe the liberal media BS, and he will be voted in easily.

People like Feinstein will vote against him, but who cares, they're morons anyway.

How difficult is it to see the distinction between being for or against something when you are in charge of creating the laws (Senator) versus simply enforcing those laws on the books -- even if you disagree with them?

A more relevant question is: If Joe Lieberman was praised for his constant talking about his faith, why is Ashcroft being demonized for speaking out about his?

A: Because the only safe targets for bigotry these days are Christians.

The VAST MAJORITY of Americans are one flavor of Christian or another, yet they sit idly by as one of their own is crucified for his faith. They better not complain when it's their turn.:|

tagej: Speaking of Feinstein, I saw her pompously saying that she couldn't believe that he'd uphold laws that he considered immoral. This is coming from a rabid, extremist, anti-2nd Ammendment, gun-grabber who had a CCW permit when she was a state rep.

Guns for the government; none for the people.

I want this guy in. He is GWB's gift to the far right idiots who helped bankroll his coronation. The American public will find out soon enough where Ashcroft is coming from. I predict either Ashcroft or that a$$hole from CANF will be the first to embarras GWB.

DefRef, the issue is not his Christianity. It's him, how he believes, and his past history.

<< he will be voted in easily. >>

I'm not sure how easily, but I agree he will be voted in.

Part of the reason he is so fanaticly strict in his convictions........his wife was brutaly (sp) raped! He wasn't always quite so fanatic about things but this changed him and his whole family!

Lieberman is an Orthodox Jew, a faith that doesn't allow women to sit with men in the synagouge (sp?) and opposes abortion. Because he rejects, with his actions, the tenets of his faith, he is acceptable.

Ashcroft says that he'll execute the laws faithfully and is automatically called a liar and untrustworthy BECAUSE of his faith.

Sounds like typical anti-Christian bigotry to me.

Do ya think the Dems are giving him such a hard to give them a excuse later on when he starts investigating the last 8 years? Now they can claim he's goin after them for revenge?

Most likely. The Democrats have long ago sold their souls and signed on to the Clinton-style politics of criminality and destruction of those who would dare look into their schemes.

It's all part of the wider plan to delegitimize and hamstring Dubya's Administration. Clinton is going to be constantly criticizing anything Dubya does and the Left's Propaganda Division (the media) will dutifully parrot the Party line.

If you want to hear some pure, uncut, Left-wing hate speech, check out the Diane Rehm (pronouncesd "REEM&quot😉 Show. She's on NPR stations and she works out of D.C., where she's lived her whole life. She is the epitome of condecending, liberal hate speech and she usually stocks her guest lists with liberals in about a 3-1 ratio to non-liberals. She takes callers who want to repeat the Leftist groupthink and they usually make ad hominem attacks and unsubstatiated charges without challenge from her. The only "conservative" callers let on are racist, conspiracy kooks who let loose with their droolings, allowing her to cut them off and portray them as representative of ALL conservatives.

Today, she had a panel of four people on about Ashcroft's religious beliefs and they ALL appeared to be attacking him, including the black minister they had on. Five Leftist panelists (including the host), ZERO, ZIP, NADA defenders.

Now I know why Newt wanted to kill off NPR. Why am I paying for Leftist propaganda mills when their is already ABCNBCCNNCBSMSNBS to get the word out?
