I have a feeling it's a US version of the 40gb, supposed to hit retail at the end of this month (but apparently already available at at least one Target).
that, or maybe a similar model, as it sounds like it is similarly spec'd.

That SKU was already approved by the FCC though. Weird because I can't think of what else they'd do to make it different unless they are adding bc back in because of all of the complaints.

No, I cannot see them doing that. But I have a feeling BC will still be in this model, technically not removing it since they still have both manufacturing processes available (80gb isn't completely neutered), since both are two different boards. But it sounds like this new model has the same board as the 40gb one, meaning 2 USB ports and likely no BC since no PS2 hardware is on it anymore (80gb is only half software emulation, still linking to the the Graphics Synthesizer iirc (they kept one chip, but took out the other, and I think it was the EE that was removed).
